Bert Raccoon
Really hope Leicester can hold it together against City on Saturday, who would have thought when the fixtures came out how.massive a game that would be?
RandomGuy.
Surprised people still believe that one. He had some excellent players at his disposal, granted, but he took some bold decisions when he went there which managed to improve them in the long run. Plenty of managers probably wouldn't have been willing to get rid of Ronaldinho and Deco, while Guardiola could probably be credited for putting a lot of faith in players like Busquets and Pique who have ended up being key for them over the years. Yeah but the players he brought through at Barca already knew exactly the system he would play as they'd been playing in it their whole life. He can't promote anyone like that at City as most will never have played his sort of system.
54_and_counting
No one is saying he had it easy at barca, but he's never had to effectively assemble a full squad for the cl before, how many of the current city squad are good enough to win the cl? His first season at barca his cl winning line up cobtained 9 players there before he got the job, city don't have anywhere near that
TheScarf
Leicester odds on for the Champions League now Shirley? I don't think they'll get the title though, although the #seethe from Fleet Street would be particularly savory.
DigOutYourSoul
The 07/08 season before Pep took over at Barca they finished 18 points behind Madrid in La Liga - in third place 10 points behind Villareal. The first season he was in charge they finished 9 points ahead of Madrid - a 27 point swing in the space of a season. He totally changed the way the team played in his first season - Messi went from scoring 16 goals in all competitions to 38. They team as a whole went from having a +33 goal difference to +70, Conceding 8 less goals and scoring 29 more and playing a completely different style of football. City could realistically win the domestic treble and progress in Europe this season it's not like he's taking over at United.
Ex Machina
Pardew has become the first manager in the English Premier League to lose five consecutive matches with two different clubs.
Dunning1874
No one is saying he had it easy at barca first proper challenge guardiola will have had really, the barca team he inherited was on the cusp of being the greatest team ever to have played the game, he undoubtedly helped and nourished it but lets face it, he walked into a guaranteed success, same at the bayern job
Honest_Man#1
Pardew has become the first manager in the English Premier League to lose five consecutive matches with two different clubs. Do Newcastle fans just google his name every few mins to ensure if there's any negatives about his career that you're first on it? The obsession with Pardew was cringeworthy but it's bordering on creepy now.
7-2
Cracking goal by Vardy. I'd say that was about right.
GiGi
The vardy goal was good but hardly a worldy, the reaction on sky sports was pretty over the top and I'm surprised to see most people creaming over it. Delighted for Leicester though, what a season. It was a belter. Keeper spotted off his line and volleyed first time perfectly over him at distance. Some people just like to oppose popular opinion no matter what it is.

Aye but its this myth he turned a dreadful team into world beaters in a season i struggle with. He took a horrendously under performing side back to their level then, with the help of the best player in the world, pushed beyond that. His record at Bayern is fairly average all things considered. 7-2
How about a dedicated Pep thread, a la Klopp, rather than filling this one with the same stuff that's already covered in numerous pages of the La Liga one.

Some people just like to oppose popular opinion no matter what it is. You've also got to remember that throbber is a complete and utter moron too. It was a cracking goal, and looked like Leicester won fairly comfortably also. Good to see, especially as it was the grief merchants they pumped. Dindeleux
It was a great goal, but (ignoring the build up) it's a goal you could see scored on a Sunday morning down the park. Nothing spectacular about the technique. Nothing spectacular about the technique? Seriously?

J_Stewart
It sat up nice, one of those you catch clean and it has a good chance of dipping in. If Cristiano Ronaldo had scored that exact same goal, you'd wet your self with glee, waddle off to the bogs for a piss-soaked, shameful w**k, and then bump a long since used thread to say "Messi couldn't do that, Ronaldo's such a #baller". ^^^exactly what would happen
Deeboy
They're having an absolutely freak season. As happens every now and again with certain teams, I really hope hey win it as even if they did keep this squad together in the summer, there's not a hope in hell they'd repeat this. Sloop John B
Vardy's goal was just another tap in and the assist from Mahrez was an aimless hoof up the park that got lucky IMO.

Exactly. The post you've quoted doesn't mention that they had some of the best players in the world when they were so shit the season before. They just had a shit manager. I don't think anyone is saying that Guardiola didn't do a good job, just that you don't necessarily have to be the greatest manager in the world to win things with the best players in the world. I don't see del bosque or aragones held up as the best in the world for doing something similar with the national team.
