Indeed not.  I am very well aware of all of the implications of student funding.

The main point is that Natterism hates people studying outside of Scotland and has put measures in place to reduce this.

This is entirely consistent with Scotland becoming a pathetic monocultural backwater.  Shame on you.

Ironically, if Scotland had gained independence in 2014, and if England had been slightly less keen on Brexit in 2014, English kids would be getting free tuition in Scotland by now like those from any other proud EU nation. Insular, I think not.

It's quite funny that making higher education free is how the SNP have ensured more Scottish students study here.

Also have it on good authority that 'parochial' topics such as Scottish History are in their rudest health as well so maybe we are becoming backwards bigots. That was one reason allegedly why Scottish History was so underdeveloped for so long.

That the insular, small-minded government of Scotland now puts practical strictures on young Jocks wanting to study in England in order to preserve the monoculture of Jockland is a given.

That @ICTJohnboy, @Inanimate Carbon Rodand @welshbairnwant to play whitabootery on what is a important point comes as no surprise.

The delightful thing about Scottish history is that it is the least parochial history of any country on the planet since, by dint of the AofU, the Jock diaspora changed the face of the modern world.

You must be delighted that Scots will no longer be permitted the right to study anywhere in the EU under the same conditions as home students, ie often free. But they can of course still study in England under home student conditions ie £9000 a year and counting. Marvellous!

The Scotch administration hit a new low - even by their standards - when it chose not to fund students to England's Unis.

How petty and pathetic is that?

Why on earth would they? They didn't have to pay for them to study in Germany, why England? Westminster didn't pay for English students to study in Scotland.

Absolutely on the money here, mate.

When I went to Uni (in London) in 1981 I had a full grant with London allowance as i'd worked for four years since leaving school.  That was when Scotland was an outward-looking country, mind..

The xenophobic Natter government has no such enlightened policy as it positively hates anything south of the Tweed despite being feather bedded by we SE England  taxpayers.

Yet they did - hence the entire reason for me mentioning this in the first place.  Do keep up, Welshy.

This was when Scotland was a decent place - before it was overrun by grievance junkies.

Folk really need to stop giving that piece of shit the attention he desperately craves.

He's a dreadful racist, bigoted liar so consumed by hate that he continually posts absolute pish wrapped up in scummy right wing propaganda terms. He's an absolutely tragic p***k and deserves zero credence and zero attention.

Ah come on. He spends all day lacking credence and being given no attention by the lads he serves warm pints to. Looking forward to going online and self-flagellating at the end of a hard day breathing in second-hand cigar smoke at the golf club is all he has.

He doesn't actually want a 'debate' or any sort of 'discussion' because he's so feeble minded that he has already been told what to think on the issue and what terms and phrases he has to use.

Racists are usually easily swayed, and it is no different here.

you're directing your ire at the wrong party. the SNP didn't triple fee loans to £9000.

iirc the expectation was that not every uni would charge the full amount but, shit shock horror, nearly all of them do

preeeetty sure the SNP weren't responsible for the privatisation of a portion of the loan book either.

Tuition fees isn't the issue here.

ScotGov hampering students studying outside of Scotland is.
