Annan Athletic v Queen of the South League Cup 1st round

Recommended Posts

Should have added 'at Galabank', apologies :)

2,500. I'm kind of hoping we take close to, if not over, 1000 on Saturday. I don't know how much of an effect the Dumfries Show will have on the attendance and I don't know how interested the locals will be, but I'll predict a crowd of 1,600/1,700.

I would be pleasantly surprised if the crowd is as high as that. It was 1588 two years ago at Palmerston. As close as Annan is it seems unlikely we will get as many with Annan at home. I'm not convinced it will make four figures. Hope you are right though.

I reckon 1,000 - should be a great day.Queens lost 1/2 a duz. O their best.Full time so QOS should be favourites but Annan started great.Josh Todd on fire running at defenders & Mr. Smart wait to u see him & make sure own mind up- great touch & fast as lightening (didnae want tae use swearies lol ).Gold card big P Wetherston or better known as Spoons t u lot no scored yet.Scary - he is overdue & what better than against his old team .Defence real stong- Blackie,Swinglehurst, big Pete &McNiff sound as a pound so far.

Regardless hope Aw u doonhamers have a great day lot & Annan win.Let's face it we're Aw Cresswell babies or the new bit anyway

Weatherson was known as Nelly during his time with us. He earned the nickname Spoonsy when he left to join Morton who thought they had signed Peter Wetherspoon.

I'm really pleased to see him doing well at Annan, even after a nasty injury. I'm sure none of us would grudge him a goal on Saturday as long as we score 2 or more to cancel it out.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if we have more than 400-500 there.

Expecting a tight game and wouldn't be surprised at all if it heads to extra time.

Aye am thinking about that sort of numbers, it's the holidays pal and the Dumfries show etc, 500 hunner will be fine by us

Was planning on drinking in Dumfries beforehand as I don't know where any pubs are in Annan, and I'm guessing they'll all be rammed anyway so it'd be quicker drinking in Dumfries!

It's a derby match, and the very first official one at that. Annan are apparently playing decent football just now. We are still getting used to playing together as our spine has been ripped out. Even including all that I don't think it's disrespectful to Annan if QoS fans won't accept anything other than a win. When all is said and done we're a FT Championship club playing a PT team 2 divisions below us. I'm expecting a win but not by a large margin. I'd be very happy if we get a couple of goals, put in a good performance and keep a clean sheet. That's not asking too much

It should be a good game though and I'm expecting there to be a good crowd with a large travelling support. Out of interest, what is Galabank's capacity?

Never mind about Galabank, how many does the Shed hold, gonna be busy? :-)
