Andy Murray Latest and General Tennis Chat

His last service game was so much better, but there's still something not right - he doesn't look as frustrated as he usually does when things don't go for him.

Maybe it's just a massive bout of nerves......

A couple of very dodgy line calls (one that there's no way an umpire can possibly over-rule, yet did), and suddenly Murray looks fired up. He's far too calm when arguing with the umpire though

Andy got one thing right in the tie-break - it was horrible tennis from him for most of the match.

Hopefully he's not going to suffer from the same lack of bottle as Henman

Henman bottle???????????????????????

I think 4 semi's and 4 quarters is not because of bottle, just not good enough.

Stats like that can hide so much - how many of those matches were lost against "weaker" opponents on grass?

Any time Henman had a real opportunity to reach the next stage, and go that extra step further, he'd have a nightmare.

Poor from Murray, just not at the races today.

Wonder if part of the problem was everyone pretending he was the England football team and talking about who he'd face in the quarters, forgetting that he has to get there first.

In Henman's defence, his four semi losses were against Sampras (twice), Hewitt and Ivanisevic, who all went on to eventually claim the title. Although, he probably should have beaten Goran in 2001 when he was 2-1 up in sets.

Murray has plenty of time. Mentally, he probably wasn't in the correct frame of mind to win today, but HOPEFULLY he will learn that lesson quickly.

Its not as if he lost to a complete muppet though, Bagdatis (sp) can play a bit - look at how well he did in the Australian Open. Murray's done very well again at Wimbledon this year, although he has to improve on his season's form in the coming year.

Well done Andy

Good post.

Andy did well, he's undoubtedly talented and will learn from every mistake he makes.

True, he is a young guy and in the infancy of his professional career. Most young sportmen suffer from inconsistency, they need to learn to perform consistently and how to prepare mentally and physically to ensure they produce their best, or near their best, all the time.
