Loki
He has done it to attempt a comeback. But if the comeback isn’t looking successful he will officially retire. If he didn’t think he could recover he would have waited till Wimbledon.Bob Bryan was back playing within five months. If anyone can do it is Andy. He has been in pain most of his career.
ayrmad
Hope it works for him, I certainly didn't think a small tweak was going to rectify his problem, he'd been walking about like an old man for ages.
jaggyness
Will Andy need a wildcard to enter Wimbledon or does the protected ranking still have effect.

Protected ranking allows him to enter nine tournaments using his protected ranking of #2. On the entry list at this years Australian Open both Nadal and Murray were #2. He has used his PR for the US Open and Australian Open. So he would have seven left. Although if they were exhausted he would get any wild card he wanted. Edited January 29, 2019 by Loki He will not be playing Wimbledon.
Mark Connolly
There would be some backlash for Wimbledon if he said he wanted to play and they said no

afca32
Going to my first live tennis match today. Australia v Bosnia in the Davis Cup. Not followed tennis as closely last 2/3 years as I used to but can't remember coming across many Bosnian players. Should be good.

Yeah first heard of him during the open and he looked good. Will be a great player one day you'd imagine. Great day out. Bosnians in the row behind me made some racket. Donathan
Damir Dzumhur is the only Bosnia player I can think of
afca32
Yeah he looked all right early on but routinely beaten by Millman in the end. Mirsa Basic (ranked 99th) had some ups and downs v de Minaur and looked more likely to win the 2nd set. Lost the tiebreak 7-0 .

peasy23
Good to hear, but he also rates his chances of playing at Wimbledon at less than 50/50.
