Andy Murray The Greatest and General Tennis Chat

Masterclass from both players. After Rafa went 5-0 up in the first seemed like another blowout similar to last year was on the cards.
Novak getting some consolation games at the end of that set before losing it 6-3 was the turning point.
Nadal was fantastic from then on but Djokovic was just better.
The two greatest players of all time IMO.

I think I’ve seen Andy tweet more this week than he has in the last decade 😂

He might even play on Monday.  Drawn to play Benoit Paire at Queens Club.  Potential meeting with Berretini and Dan Evans if he is to progress.

This is the seventh occasion that Djokovic has come back and levelled the match 2-2 after being 2-0 down.  Ominously for Tsitsipas Djokovic has only lost once.  Andy Murray stopping the comeback in the final of the US Open in 2012.

Djokovic two sets down in the quarters to Berretini, wins in five. Lost the first set to the greatest clay court player of all time in the semi, wins in four. Two sets down in the final to Tsitsipas, wins in five.
Unbelievable, has to be one of the all time great major wins.
All time majors now:
Nadal 20
Federer 20
Djokovic 19
Bit of inevitability about Novak finishing top of that list when all three are retired. He’s the youngest of the three and in the best shape physically. Hard to see any one other than him winning Wimbledon in a few weeks.

He was two down to Mussetti in the R16 not Berretini in the QF.

Andy Murray remains the only player to straight set Novak in a slam final.

That’s a great stat and one I’ve never thought of before.

Sensational stuff again from Novak.

Hopefully Tsitsipas comes out of this stronger and leads the new generation of new talents forward so that we can enjoy several years of classic slams and rivalries between them similar, if not as good, to what we have been treated by Nadal, Federer and Djoko (with the lesser but significant contribution of Andy Murray).
