Andy Murray The Greatest and General Tennis Chat

Wimbledon must have the shittiest scheduling of any slam.  Even if Raducanu can get through tonight shes going to have less than 24 hours to prepare for her quarter final.

This Zverev match could be over soon but even then it’s not great.

When did Inverdale start doing commentary rather than presenting? He's even fucking worse at that.

Glad that Felix A-A got through, think the winner of his next match is the only obstruction to Djokovic vs Federer final.

This is going away from Raducanu quickly now.

She hadn't lost a set prior to this match so understandable that with so little WTA tour - never mind Grand Slam - experience that at a decade older Tomljanovic is taking advantage.

That's a shame. The Aussie played better and deserved to win regardless, served much better than Raducanu and made far fewer unforced errors. Still, she's only young and still learning. Hopefully nothing too serious and she comes back stronger.

Interesting stat I found out today. The last player to be ranked Number 1 in the mens game outwith Federer, Djokovic, Nadal, and Murray was Andy Roddick. Back in January 2004.

Shows what an incredible achievement it was by Murray to even reach Number 1 in this era.

To follow on from that Danil Medvedev was the first player out with that Big Four to be ranked inside the top 2 since a similar time frame.

He was only able to do that because of the two year ranking system due to the COVID pandemic.

And there goes Medvedev’s slim hopes of breaking that Big Four stranglehold over the number 1 ranking.

Hurkacz bossed it in the short time they played today.

High quality, big hitting game between Shapovalov and Khachanov in the other quarter final happening just now. One set all and on serve in the third.
Can’t see either troubling Novak in the semi, but imagine we will be seeing a lot more of both in the coming years.
