peasy23
Comes through in the end 6-2. Really superb result for him, best result since beating Zverev last year. Some really good variety from Murray, with an underarm serve, serve and volley on match point. Alcaraz had some lovely shots and can hit a drop shot sublimely. His power from a short swing is impressive. Brooksby and Zverev are going to a final set, and Murray will have chances against both.Zverev gets through.
GiGi
I see tennis crowds still not having the underarm serves. I genuinely don't see the fuss.
welshbairn
As he says, if receivers are standing 6,7 yards behind the line on a slow court, why not?
Lex
Another good tournament from Murray, but he was never getting past Zverev.Even better tournament from Cam Norrie who’s in the semi final after beating Schwartzman in the quarters. He will play Dimitrov or Hurkacz.
Loki
He’s drawn to play Frances Tiafoe in the First Round, and then second seed Diego Schwarzman if he progresses. His points from 2019 finally dropped so he’s now about 170 in the world. Not sure on his schedule for the rest of the season but I’d imagine he would look to play the 500 and then the Paris Masters. He’s stated that he wouldn’t be playing in the Davis Cup, he did say he thought he wouldn’t be selected anyway as Evans and Norrie deserve it.

Distant Doonhamer
Norrie makes the final at Indian Wells with a 6-2 6-4 win over Dimitrov. Fine effort. Edited October 16, 2021 by Distant Doonhamer
Loki
Norrie was absolutely superb, his forehand was on fire. Dimitrov looked like he was physically spent. Norrie will win the title tomorrow as Fritz or Basilashvili won’t stop him. Murray and Norrie are going to destroy Team England in Aberdeen. Is anyone going?

It went as scripted for the first four games of the set. Norrie a break up and looking good, and then Basilashvili did to Norrie that he famously did at Wimbledon to Murray, reeled off consecutive games to win the set. Basilashvili is absolutely crushing Norrie with power currently.
Loki
From a set and a break up Basilashvili errored all over the court to get Norrie back in the match. Norrie closes it out 6-1 24 unforced errors in that last set. Great win and he’s very likely to make the year end finals in Turin.

TheScarf
Murray beats Tiafoe 2-1 in Antwerp. Good result that.

Sounds like quite a match. 7-6 (7-2) 6-7 (7-9) 7-6 (10-8) lasting three hours 45 minutes. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/58974845
Loki
It really was an epic match, high quality and the winner count outstripped the unforced errors by both guys. The more you see Andy play like that the more you think it’s going to click for him. The serve and forehand are getting better each game, with more transitions to the net. If he serves well tomorrow he can beat Diego, but after playing almost four hours and Diego being fresh it might be a tough ask. It will be interesting to see what he does in the off season, hopefully he keeps working with Petchey off season.
Loki
And in the end he couldn’t quite serve at the level required to win today. Murray under 50% 1st serves in and Diego at 80%. A good week in terms of improving the level of tennis he can play at, but disappointing that he can’t take a close match against a top guy.
Donathan
Murray is still a different class of player to the jobbers on tour but simply doesn't have the fitness to outlast them anymore. He dominated in parts today but was simply too knackered from the 4 hour marathon to close it out. I don't think we'll see him in the second week at slams anymore because BO5 is just too much for him at this point, but it wouldn't surprise me if he wins a 250/500 tournament next year.

I guess a lot will depend on the work in his off season. Beating a top 8 seed in the First Round would be his best opportunity to make a second week in a slam currently. He’s taken a wild card into Vienna and then will be offered a wild card in Paris. No one will want to play him in the first round though, as you feel it’s going to click at some point.
Loki
LOL draws Hurkacz first round. Could play Evans or Alcaraz in the second if gets through.
true_rover
And through to play Alcaraz in the second round - great result.
Loki
A very smart match from Murray, looks like he backed out of playing a backhand down the line winner on match point in the second set, Hurkacz then did it. Lost the next two points and then got broken. Reset and went forehand to forehand extracting error after error to regain control of the match. First top 10 win since Zverev and only the second post since the hip died against Wawrinka. The draw in Vienna is absolutely stacked. Alcaraz next, then possibly Berretini, Zverev and Tsitsipas. Good to see him competing at this level again.
