Rhodes is absolutely not on anywhere near 60k a week at Blackburn

He certainly is, hard as it is to believe. That figure came from the chief sports correspondent of the Herald. It came up in a recent Twitter discussion of Bristol City spending £9 million on Andre Gray. Hence they can't move him. That's not a criticism of Rhodes, it's a criticism of Blackburn.

That would only prevent him from moving if any potential suitor got as far as contract talks (and Rhodes himself rejected the terms). So far, Blackburn have never let it get past the bid stage.

Two goals for Rhodes today, one from the penalty spot. But with fletcher notching his first goal for months today and Strachans fondness for him, don't think it will be enough for him to start on Thursday.

The poles will be worried about him coming off the bench.

Aye, shitting themselves.

Yep I`d be pretty sure the Poland coach hasn`t been able to sleep since our squad was announced

That's twice you've said that. It's not true. These links - usually sideways - don't come without the club offering him around. Any football writer you choose to follow says the same thing; Blackburn are hawking him but they can't get anyone to take his contract. The bids are solicited, they dint just come out of nowhere.

That might be true in some cases, but it sounds like a very awkward fit for the whole Boro chase for Rhodes. They were desperate to get him. Rhodes was desperate to talk to them (and potentially negotiate on his wages). Why would Blackburn prevent such talks from taking place if they had teed up the bid in the first place?

Because Blackburn's owners aren't necessarily on the level. The Boro thing was weird though. There'd be very little benefit in that for Rhodes, but it appeared he wanted to go. Obviously not that desperately though.

40k was the figure I've seen bandied about.

To be fair if he is on 60K a week the take home after tax would be about 32k and add on goal and appearance bonuses then could be right enough. They did pay like 8 million for him probably when EPL teams were sniffing about so probably had to offer such a good wage and were confident of his resale value.

Play rhodes. He scores goals and we win matches....

But aye thats right. He doesnt fit GS system..

Mmm. Rule 1. Of management. Score goals. Win games .. ??!

With cutting tactical insight like that, it's amazing you haven't been given the Scotland job already.

Pulled out of the squad with a mystery 'injury'.

Chances of him being available for Blackburn next weekend? High to certain.

The Gibraltar game was the one he was picked for and one he would have got a chance in. What a pity.

Yup. Suspect it might be a while before he gets another shot.

Perhaps Strachan has already let the group know what the team will be against Gibraltar? Knowing they aren't starting I can't fathom any other reason why the likes of Rhodes, Griffiths and McArthur would withdraw. Unless of course as you said they might all have a "mystery" injury.
