Her stuff is pretty good- as much as it’s great to pass our musical wisdom onto the younger generation it’s sometimes nice to take something from them too. Hence why, with my teenage daughters influence, I’m now a Taylor Swift fan If you ignore the poppy stuff then her songwriting is very similar to Scott’s- mostly stories of heartbreak, real and imaginary. Give it a try, especially the Folklore album. i listen a lot to boygenius, they have some great stuff

There was a tune about someone wearing "short shorts"(quick google says its 'You Belong With Me') - and it used to drive me mad..so bad that put me off but will go back reinvestigate.
Meathead
Billy is releasing his own music under the name Haiver. Full album to come next year seemingly, with the first single 'So Slow' out now. I like it a lot.

Le Tout P'ti FC
Decided on a whim to drive to Selkirk this morning, for a walk around the Haining Estate (home of Clan Pringle and their tubed crisps and golfing jumpers). Selkirk of course is the birthplace of Frightened Rabbit, and a memorial to Scott has been erected here in the form of a slightly uncomfortable bench at this rather idyllic little spot. I’m just sitting listening to some music (Mastersystem was the one I picked), the birdsong that’s abundant here, and remembering what he achieved.

Le Tout P'ti FC
And another! Left the estate by a different path and came across this wee wood carving. Maybe I’ve missed some others? I’m guessing Selkirk isn’t particularly close to many who will see this, it’s not even that close to me and I happen to live in the Borders, but I’d recommend you try to make it across/up/down one day. The Haining is a beautiful spot. Scott’s Bench is somewhere to come and make peace with whatever you need to make peace with. Reminded me a little of the Martyn Bennett gravestone at Calgary on Mull, in that it’s completely unique, immediately recognisable, yet completely at one with its setting. A good trip.

Have only made it to his bench in Glasgow so far. We have a few cut offs of wood used for the bench with the Frabbit logo carved into them hanging in our bedroom from one of the creator/organisers of the bench.

stevoraith
Haven’t seen either of those before, thanks. Sing the Greys is definitely an under-rated album. Some of the lyrics in Be Less Rude are fantastic.
