Albion Rover v Peterhead

Recommended Posts

Certainly happy to have kept our unbeaten run going but apart from the last 20 minutes we were not at the races today. Rovers adapted better & won all the loose balls & were maybe unlucky not to be further ahead by half-time. I know its the same for both teams but after hearing an Albion supporter saying they are really a passing team would think they must prefer playing away from home as the pitch at Cliftonhill does not lend itself to keeping the ball on the deck.

That was our poorest display for some time. We never looked like troubling the Albion keeper and a fortunate penalty gave us a point which we didn't deserve. Rory was as cool as ever slotting away the penalty when it seemed our undefeated run was coming to an end. Marc Lawrence played well when he came on and he must be in with a shout of starting next week in place of Rory who is suspended. Albion played much better than they did at Balmoor a few weeks ago when we scored 5 past them and they must be kicking themselves for not winning this one.

Think Marc would be more likely to come in for Simon Ferry, who's also serving a suspension next week. Would expect Leighton to play in place of Rory, if he's fit. Point gained, rather than 2 dropped, by all accounts.

Thought your numbers 8 and 10 were excellent today (even though the french guy got motm)

You're a man of the world, DULF, but you're mistaken - big Ricardo is Dutch! Does he have a French accent or something?

Have to add, as usual Rory gets no protection from the officials. So many times he had players climbing all over him & when he complained about it the ref stopped the game and booked him!

McAllister and his team mates aren't exactly shrinking violets when it comes to the physical side of the game.

Would have taken a point before this game but was gutted to drop the 2 points - definite penalty and was easily avoidable . We were saying that Peterhead were a shadow of themselves but felt they were always going to get at least one chance which McAllister rarely misses. That said our lack of composure in front of goal came home to roost again- disappointing as our next game against the Pars is a write off

For which we are routinely punished. Doesn't mean that the opposition shouldn't be pulled up when the climb all over the attackers.

Mick Dunlop's tussle with McAllister was one of the interesting aspects of a good game. They will know each other's games well being former teammates at the Glebe. I've no idea why Scott McBride stuck his hand out to concede the penalty. Two Saturdays in a row that his decision making cost us points.
