Hearts v St Johnstone Match Thread

Recommended Posts

Another three points. Another clean sheet. Hopefully we can continue to keep picking up points against the perthshiremen next week. Rossi hopefully back and a potential start for Kitchen.

Looking forward to this one. More so due having to the V.I.P treatment from Gorgie. 6-0 v Motherwell last time out.

We could lose every game left this season and the shite below still wouldn't get near us.

Our home form is rampant. Hopefully win with a few to spare this time.

Only 17 points behind Hearts, this is when we start clawing them back...

I doubt we'll cause you huge problems, Tynecastles a horrible fucking place for results if you're a Saints fan. As has been said, we have a far bigger game on Wednesday first, and then two more important ones after this aswell. Anything we get here is bonus points.

Hearts only won today cause Willie was providing special treatment to most of your players, half of them should be been booked at the very least. We didn't deserve to win, but we deserved a point

Saints results over the last 20 odd years at Tynecastle against Hearts are actually fairly decent, its just a shame the about the Semi final record there

Living, going to school, working, drinking, socialising etc in Peebles (20 miles south of Edinburgh) you enjoy, embrace, and remember the wins against the Edinburgh teams especially the ones in Edinburgh

Seven wins a piece with 6 draws in the last 20, a fairly impresive away record for a wee team against a bigger team, even more so when you take into consideration which team was managing to financially live within its means throughout this period

Feeling a bit more optimistic then, add in the fact we won't have Brad McKay handing out goals and Scobbie as his central partner *shudder* then we should be a bit more resolute than the last encounter.

I've never seen us win at tynecastle.. I've gone to all the wrong matches thru there, and that's not even including the 3 semi finals!

First trip thru there was a midweek league cup tie standing on the open terrace behind the goals watching first division Saints get pumped 5-0. Ian Ferguson got a hat trick I think? If you think tynecastle is a shithole now, you should have seen it back then!

Anyway I digress. We should probably have 4 points off the jambos so far this season, but instead have only 1. They are a team who know how to grind out results, and silky total football teams like ourselves will often struggle against such rulebending hammer throwers. Our big game is Wednesday night against (hopefully) the league cup holders so Saturday is practically a friendly.

1-1

My favourite Tynecastle memory is our first game there after promotion. 1-0 down at half time thanks to a wonder strike from Christian Nade. Came back and won the game 2-1, with Jonatan Johansson scoring a last minute winner. Absolute carnage in the Saints end.

My favourite game at Tynescastle was in the League Cup in 94 when we won 4-2. 2-0 down at half time but Frail had been sent off for handball(can't remember who missed the penalty).  Second half and we scored 4  - O'Neill, Miller, O'Boyle and Davie Irons. Still my best memory of the game was Paul Ramsey running down the wing (!) near the end, went to cross it, touched it with his standing foot, missed the ball completely and fell in a heap by the corner flag.

Fuckin Tommy McLean - he brought on Tommy Harrison (whatever happened to him?) the subbed him again!
