Arsenal done it three times with Harry Clarke. He had a 12 month loan contract at County ended in January, then moved on loan to Hibs the same month on a 18 month loan deal. 6 months later they ended that loan deal so he could join Stoke on a 12 month loan, but that was cut short in January so they could sell him permanently to Ipswich.

If Biereth is not returning we need to get the credit card out . Groningen might ask for £5k a week so x 20 is £100k . Can we afford it ? Ordinarily absolutely not, but without Biereth can we afford not to try and do a deal and get KVV back? £100k is chicken feed compared to relegation.

That's quite impressive actually. I suppose they hold all the cards and can do whatever they want.
well fan for life
I'd be up for KVV coming back but on the proviso that there's a faceless Twitter account tells him he's shite as soon as the deal is signed.

He's got a high ceiling and a low floor for me. Prior to hearing about his injury, I thought the end of this season would have been a natural parting of ways. I'd imagine we put him at the higher end of the payscale on the gamble it would make us a transfer fee and now that hasn't come to fruition, I would question if renewing his contract at the same rank of the payscale that he's on currently would be worth it. As for insurance, I don't think it does if he gets injured on our watch. The only time I've heard of insurance coming in to play was when Saunders got injured for the season whilst on international duty with the under 21s and we were able to bring in Clancy for the season with the money. The insurance does exist, wether we have it or not though I dunno. Pretty costly endeavour probably.
eliphas
Mika leaving would be....annoying. Maybe they saw the last couple of games and noticed he was getting told to play wide and on the fucking wing and thought...aye that's not what we wanted.
Archie McSquackle
Or they saw some of the games where we continually launched it over his head? There have been times when I've come out of games thinking 'Surely this isn't what Arsenal are looking for for his development '?

He has quite a specific skillset. Top 3 i get, just by looking at previous top flight seasons, are Stephen Kelly, Craig Sibbald, and bizarrely Greg Kiltie.

Cheers. It’s interesting to see those names as I wondered if Kelly’s name would be there when I posted that earlier especially as Slattery is currently out of contract at the end of the season and Martindale, weirdly, doesn’t seem to fancy Kelly now.

From an impeccable source I'm hearing Mika has in the last few days been down to Sunderland and a Sheffield team. Might be true but he was definitely in yesterday training with the rest of the squad. I mean they can recall him up until the end of the month I suppose. Would seem strange to send him back up the road for a few days just to bring him back. No sign of Slattery though, so the rumours might be true. On the plus side though Lennon Miller was back involved. When you are that young injuries can heal quicker than say an old codger / player at 28. If Biereth is training with us it would seem strange if he had been anywhere near any other English clubs. Unless he stopped off there on the way back up the road. Hopefully positive that he is back in training
Archie McSquackle
Yeah, it's difficult not to get carried away with rumours when there's nothing else happening transfer wise. That's all they are at this stage - rumours. Biereth and Slattery.
casinobay
Guys, I'm meeting an Alloa mate before the game on Saturday. What's the best place to go for a drink before the match? Is there anything in the stadium that non season ticket holders/directors/etc can stroll into? Ta

I am pretty sure it is open to anyone attending the match as away fans get access also. The door to the Cooper Bar is on the far right as you approach the stand. The other end from the Club Shop.

If they're not going to get a few for him, then surely they won't be too fussed about where he plays. I guess him training with them in the break might have been them gauging whether it's worth extending his deal or not.

IIRC the pre-contract rules in England are different so I don’t think clubs down there would be able to speak to him in the same way as they can up here. Pretty sure that was the point Grezza made when he was blindsided by United signing Watt on the PCA. I'm not sure if that only applies to teams in the same league or if it's an association wide thing - clearly the PL and EFL are separate organisations. https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/rangers/motherwells-alexander-wants-scotland-to-copy-england-over-pre-contract-3520547 Edited January 14 by capt_oats
