Hearing that a young Everton lad is coming back up the road on the bus with us.

Highly-rated right-back.

I was only kidding, lads. I have no inside info, unlike @Busta Nut.

Highly rated young right back from Everton you say? #WelcomeNathan

Nathan Fatterson. SOD is far superior imo.

We have a great track record with Everton loanees as Jutkiewicz and Ruddy served as well and to a lesser extent Conor Grant.

Not sure if our delicate squad needs someone from the Sean Dyche school of football.

Is he coming to batter Liam Gordon, or to join forces with him to finish the job? It will be like Hogan joining the NWO all over again.

It depends if he's toughened up since this incident with Dyche.

Russell Griffiths and, technically, John Spencer too.

"to a lesser extent" doing some seriously heavy lifting here!

Plan A: Hunners of injuries throughout the season, causing constant disruption.

Plan B: Injure everyone at the start of the season to get it out the way.

Kettlewell has often been accused of over thinking things in the past, I fear he's gone a step to far in simplifying them here.

Listened to the boys on the Terrace podcast hammer our team/squad/club.

Didn't disagree tbh.

I listened to it as well and while I didn't disagree that we looked blunt it also felt a bit confirmation bias-y from Fowler in particular in so much as he's decided we're shite and this was proof positive. I mean, we may well end up being trash this season but given the circumstances I (genuinely) don't think our pre-season and the County game is a fair reflection of the squad in general.

It had a similar energy to Sked speaking to @thisGRAEME in one of the early season previews where he was incredulous at Graeme's suggestion we could finish top 6 with a fair headwind and things going our way (Narrator: Motherwell finished Top 6 that season).

I think the beef I had was that there was no real context given or considered (again, mostly from Fowler).

I get that they're Hearts and Killie fans respectively and we've been anything but convincing (although we're still technically unbeaten through pre-season into the opening fixture) but we've got half a dozen players out injured and another pile in various states of rehab coming back from injury which is why as many of the new signings were on the bench or in the case of Stuparević he didn't just disappear from the squad (as implied) - he's injured.

Also, the suggestion that the "takeover" stuff had distracted the football department was an odd take given the football department seems to have been the one area of the club that has been functioning as normal in terms of getting bodies in.

That's basically my take from listening to that and pretty much any output that either of the two Craig's have been involved in with Motherwell over the years, they think we're shite and by god, they'll let us know about it at any opportunity.

Jealousy is a wicked thing when you support teams who have been down to the Championship many more times than us since we took our place at the top table all those years ago.

Hinted at this before but I wonder how much of the Bair war-chest is going to be dipped into chasing a need to make this team competitive in the league.

Maybe I'm wrong, but paying 400k ish for Balmer and Stama plus all the others recruited, many would have thought our business was complete bar a loan or two and if a bargain was available (not that there's much of that any more with scouting software). That would have left the lion's share in the "prudent" column.

I suppose I'm just fearful that this could be frittered away out of necessity rather than us picking and choosing which how it was looking only a month ago.

Through a mixture of bad luck but also chasing the made of glass but good footballer guys makes me really fearful that Saturday could be painful.

I can't lie I usually would agree with these takes. I did think this one was closer to the bone though.

And the point @capt_oats makes about the distraction being a pile of shite was something I thought as well.

Hope you don’t mind me posting. I am standing for election for the well society and after answering some correspondence on Twitter/fb etc it was suggested I post some additional content on here like others have. To provide more background on myself and what I can offer.

For those who do not know me. I own and operate event and social engagement brands and companies which operate across the UK from our offices in EK, Edinburgh, the Midlands, Dublin and Dubai.

Through our social jungle brand we assist brands and corporate clients grow their brand awareness, data capture and engage with clients through the use of event technologies and social engagement strategies. Clients include the likes of British Airways, PWC , KPMG , Brewdog etc . I believe the knowledge and specialist skillsets that my team and I possess can further support me in the role of engaging with our prospective members where membership is low in areas around Lanarkshire and beyond.

Through our Event PAL company I have built a ticketing and fundraising platform raising £10m+ each year for charities and community groups across the UK . I believe I can introduce this technology to the society in helping grow our revenue streams through fundraising along with the benefits our systems event management capabilities brings to the society.

From a personal point I have an extensive 20+yrs experience at board level working alongside boards , communities, committees and even competitors. Whilst I have experience in leading large teams and integrating them into our own group of businesses. This experience means I am very familiar with difficult conversations and challenging negotiations in business particularly when investing in or acquiring companies that fit our group. Something that I feel is of benefit in light of the recent investment conversations.

I also currently serve in an ambassadors role on the fundraising board of the kilbryde hospice and assist in creating and executing fundraising strategies for the hospice fundraising team to deliver towards a £1.6m shortfall in funding each year.

My previous working life has seen me work for a number of charities including Childline and Sense Scotland  in community, corporate, trust and legacy fundraising and I believe the knowledge I have from this working life and the support I have from my wider teams across my UK wide companies can only benefit the society in driving home our ambitions.

I really appreciate you taking the time in reading the above and I’m open to any questions on my suitability you may have. Regardless of the results it’s very clear and assuring that the society is in safe hands with the current group running for election

Thanks again for reading folks

Greg
