capt_oats
Hard pass on Griffiths. Obvs. It's not even the baggage but in that wee puff piece on the BBC you've got him saying "I'm never going to be Scott Brown or Callum McGregor. I'm never going to be as fit as them. I never have been and never will be." I mean, if he's not fit and apparently has no actual motivation to get fit i don't see that he improves our situation any even on a short term deal. I didn't follow his 5 minute jaunt to Australia but going by Transfermarkt he became a free agent on October 13th so would he even be eligible to sign outside the window? Are Mandurah City even playing at a level that has transfer windows? Either way, I'd imagine they would be on a different calendar but still...nah. Anyway, here's Hammell talking about January signings. Make of this what you will. Quote It means Well have had to turn to their youth team to fill their quota of substitutes in recent weeks. But Hammell says a budget has been set aside to recruit in January - and transfer targets have already been identified. He said: “That’s something we have already spoken about. We are not getting too far ahead but you need to plan on what we can do short term. “The long term plan of the club we have already tried to put in place with the young boys going out on loan, that’s not something that’s going to help the club right now, it’ll be a year or two to see the fruits of that. But the short term .. we sit here til 8pm every night and plan. “This week we have looked at potential targets in January. For sure that is going to be a big window for us in terms of getting a couple of options in the building. “It’s no secret we need a couple in. There’s flexibility to do that. We won’t fill the squad with people who are just going to be squad players. “We need to be clever and confident with it. There’s always a gamble with recruitment of course but it’s something we are planning for already.” Hammell may only be three months into his first job as a boss but working with the club’s dedicated scouting and recruitment staff to pin down potential signings is a part of the job he has found rewarding. He said: “Absolutely, it’s part of the job and is something we’re good at. “We have staff dedicated to it and their application is excellent. The knowledge, tapping into that on a daily basis, we have debates about everything in football and the recruitment staff is similar to that. The coaching staff, sports science, analysis .. everyone pulls together and that will just make us better.” Link Edited November 1, 2022 by capt_oats

One of them being him squaring up with a fan, of the team he was playing for. Get him tae f**k.
Swello
Leigh Griffiths would make Ross McCormack MkII look useful.
YassinMoutaouakil
Wonder who Hammell's two targets are? I'll go for Shaun Hutchinson and Henrik Ojamaa. Has Chris Porter retired yet? thisGRAEME
Shaun Hutchinson returning would be absolutely superb value. Ojamaa still playing international football too... Also; Griffiths, lol. He ambled around for Falkirk in League 1 last season and was crap. Basically just there to be a set-piece taker, and even those were rubbish. Quite aside from the fact he's hitting up 15 year olds on Instagram, singing about refugees and general bad-eggery, he's finished as a footballer. He's a cert to be on open goal in six months explaining how this manager let him down or that thing happened that was not actually his fault, but just get the finger out and graft. He won't, though, and we shouldn't be the ones to find that out.

So, not literally kicking a baw.

One of the most understated centre forwards we've had and probably forgotten about as a result. I'm sure his numbers stack up with almost anyone we've had up front but he rarely gets mentioned in the same breath as them - probably because he wasn't a mad badge kisser. The jump for his equaliser at Tynecastle in the first game back after Phil O'Donnell died was one of the best ever.
thisGRAEME
Loved him wholeheartedly. His performance as we absolutely thumped United 4-0 at Tannadice is one of the best I've ever seen from a Motherwell centre-forward.
well fan for life
Porter was a Rolls Royce of a forward. Loved the guy. That front 3 of him, Clarkson and McCormack before gaining 10 stone was tremendous to watch.
Swello
Also love that a guy whose knees were definitely fucked when he joined us is playing 15 years later for the team whose fans told us that in the first place.
18May1991
Everything about signing Griffiths screams ‘f**k, no’. Still , if we could get him fit…..* *I know we wouldn’t and it would be a waste of money.

Ron Aldo
Leigh Griffiths would be an awful signing. Any one of us on here would be a better option than him at the moment and I'm not entirely joking when I say that. What's Michael Higdon up to these days?

YassinMoutaouakil
I'm about to do the literal embodiment of the Arrested Development quote the Captain posted but I do think, with someone as talented as Griffiths (was), there's a maybeeeeee ~10% chance that some combination of manager/club might be able to coax it back out of him, in which case you'd have probably the best striker in the league outwith the top 2. I don't want us to be the ones testing this theory though.
