The Hibs game to finish was hilarious mind, we were 3-2 up at half time having been 2-0 down inside five minutes.

I just checked the stats for that season, and it's actually even funnier than I realised.

Motherwell beat Hibs 6-2, Mcleish moved to Hibs the following day, and Hibs got relegated by finishing 4 points behind Motherwell. 🤣

Surely can't be many other times a manager has relegated himself.

PJ Morrison, David Devine (is he still on loan?), Steve Hetherington, Morgyn Neil, Conor Sammon - not sure if there are any other ex-Well players

Given our propensity to let ex-players score against us, we'll need to score at least 6 to go through.

Despite the BBC headline, I see Ged Brannan has been named the new manager of Morecambe.

We are so Establishment, we appoint other team's managers...

Motherwell got a name-check yesterday when the commentators were talking about Mitchell van der Gaag replacing Ten Hag as the main man on the touchline for the Everton - Man Utd game yesterday.

It had completely passed me by that one of my favourite players of "Them There Olden Days" had become assistant manager at Man U.   I'm really not paying proper attention, am I? ;)

Eric Garcin with a wonder free-kick to put us 3-2 up!

Think I'm right in saying that day saw Lee McCulloch score his first Motherwell goal and Dougie Arnott scored his last.

You are. Lee McCulloch scored his first two. That was the only time I saw Arnott score in the flesh.

I remember that game. It was madness. I remember 'Well fans chanting "McLeish must go" despite us being 6-2 or there abouts up.

I was in the main stand with ma da that day.

I always mind when it was 0-2 to Hibs ma da standing up and shouting, "get yerself to f**k McLeish" or something to that effect and the folk round about us being shocked at it for some reason.

When reminiscing about that it's also the day that Brian Martin's career effectively ended. Peerless for a spell but there's a reason father time is undefeated, as they say.

I’ve got the right fear about Saturday.

I don't. We obviously desperately need a win but right now Dundee are better than us.

As much as we need to raise our game, we'll at least encounter an opponent who wants to play and while that brings danger, it can open things up as well.

I think it's actually a more ideal follow-up to Celtic than St Johnstone at home where only the young and naive will not have the fear about what will be, win or lose, a gigantic shitshow.

I've always felt like I got a raw deal starting to go to the games in 96/97, with my first season ticket the following season. I missed the cup win and our two great league seasons in the 90s and only saw a good few of the players who were successful in that spell. in their twilight when we were fighting relegation. I know a few of them would be higher up my list if I'd seen them a few years earlier.

There's probably some parallels with people of a certain age missing out on the good times under McCall, before watching a bunch of players who'd been great players for the club nearly get us relegated under McGhee.

It had become leaked public knowledge that he'd already agreed his deal move to Hibs before we went into the game, so (aside from the results), that would have been a big part of the reason for the shouts.

I had it in my mind that he didn't actually manage us that day - and that Andy Watson, his assistant did - but that was probably the next week.
