Please Nadir Ciftci your our only hope

I think I'm the only Saints fan that doesn't want him. Thankfully theres not a hope in hell we can even get close to affording him.

It wasn't totally serious but it could have an element of truth to it. It's been a very curious day. Most of the names on folks yes please/he'd do/get stuffed lists have been wiped out today and Kane has surprisingly gone, plus Kerr, freeing up funds. Maybe young Broon was so pissed off after Tuesday he hit 'f**k it, you're right Tommy, Go get him' mode. It could all just be co-incidence of course.

Theres logic in it, for sure. Everything about the timing of the Kane announcement ties up with us signing someome today. Going by the quotes on the unofficial twitter, TW still doesn't even seem convinced we can get someone else.

I can't see any way they we'd loan out a perfectly competent striker who we know can fulfil a role without knowing for certain that someone better than him is coming in. Especially when it leaves us with only two senior strikers. I read those quotes as if TW knows the incoming player will put Kane down the pecking order to the extent that he's not going to play much this season if he stays.

Him or sammon??

Thankfully, that's not the question TW has to answer. I don't want either. Ciftcis the type of player who'll go in a huff for six months because he got hit pretty hard in training. I'd rather no rest our season on him.

Sammons just a dull fucking signing who'd be taking us half a step back in terms of quality. Bit like Paton, he'd play well enough to avoid criticism, but too poor to be considered an improvement on what we've got. Would hardly be progressive.

Kane played 30 games for us last season. There will be an argument that O'Halloran can play up front but I find it impossible to believe that we won't bring a striker in off the back of loaning him out. My misplaced optimism says that if we were just bringing in another option then Kane would still be here. TW must be confident that whoever he brings in would have kept Kane out of the team. Optimism, eh? It's the hope that kills you...

I still think TW decided this week he wanted two. Still working on one, but decided loaning out Kane would also help us bring in Storey, only to be beaten to the punch as we've been focusing on someone else.

Please just someone tell us who the Jewell is? Before I get any more depressed

Connor Sammon. He glints and sparkles in sunshine, like a diamond, which is a jewel. Him and Cummins are starting together tomorrow

Ciftci? In fairness, if we were (apparently) realistically in for him in January then assuming he hasn't found another club in the near future and Celtic realise they're not going to get shot of him permanently are willing to accept a similar sort of deal then I don't see why Saints couldn't afford him.

Will it be worth all this waiting?

If we get him he would. I'm doubtful it'll actually happen to be honest as i'm feeling particularly pessimistic right now.
