Double Winning St Johnstone FC Thread

Recommended Posts

Thought in the second half the midfield 2 shielded the central defenders well. Didn't let anything go into feet in and around the ball for them to play wee neat one twos etc.

Got a bit of luck as well of course.

Naturally pleased with that though. Well done lads. Hope they enjoy their evening.

The question remains whether they can translate that performance with a more attacking intent at home to the likes of Dundee but we'll see! Hopefully they can!

Lots of decent and few very good performances out there today, new lads all did well.

Not seen anyone pick out Smith though - thought he was excellent in reading the game well, breaking up play. He could be big for us this year.

Interesting that Macca was saying just yesterday that Jephcott could be October before he's properly fit. Looked like that to me too.

Really not sure it's as simple as that.

You don't leave him as club captain while you're leaving him out the squad completely.

If he's going to treat people like that then he won't last long as manager. That doesn't get players motivated and on side with your plans.

Liams big enough to take it, as all players should be, no one is a certain starter apart from Miiiiiitov

It's actually very good player management from MacLean. Gordon has been struggling for form for a while now and it's, for me, a combination of the burden of being captain at his club and it struggling, along with not really having that competition for his place. Leaving him out sort of relieves him of both and will do him good in the longer term.

Also sends a message to others they are dropable too.

All only possible now we actually have a near full squad. Today's result will be a huge boost for every single one of them.

A lot of praise rightly thrown at Mitov. Often you see a keeper that makes the great saves he did but then spills a cross or has poor kicking.

But his handling and ability at crosses has also been very good; he’s taken pressure of us a few times plucking crosses out the air, and his kicking was mostly excellent today.

When you throw in some top drawer shithousery that Macca himself would have been proud of, then I completely agree with whoever earlier on said how the hell have we managed to sign this guy?!

Yeah Gordon being dropped is good.

Club captain so shows nobody is safe, but also lifts some weight off Gordons shoulders.

Managers need to be brave and MacLean was that today, and got his reward.
