What's the crack with this one then?

Media not aware or not happening unless someone goes out?

Not happening by looks of it, was told it looked promising this afternoon, also missed out on another one a few days ago.  I reckon that’s (at least) five centre backs we’ve failed to sign this summer, money talks

Still looks like a pretty big squad. 32 bodies and at least another one in?

Bit bloated maybe as there are three players there he doesn't want but we couldn't fill the bench before last week with the injuries. So what do you do?

Richards had to come in because Sinclair broke his arm. Parker will go out on loan next month and probably Kucheriavyi too. Maybe even Ballantyne.

Probably not much over 20 outfield players he wants to work with on a daily basis.

No more signings for us, apparently.

29 players, and 3 of them are free to leave. Think Parker and maybe Kucheriayvi will be allowed to go out on loan too.

Parker will be on kids wages and I'm unsure how much we'll be paying for the loanees. We seemingly always take fees when loaning players out.

Going by Kyle's list it's 32, albeit 2 out on loan so 30.

Those who are free to leave are still going to be trapped there unless anyone takes them in next few hours or is there a chance you cut them loose in the last hour of the night?

Reminds me of the squad we had in the Stubbs/Kearney season. We were absolutely heaving with bodies and most of them were shite.

You have another month to loan them out to the lower leagues.

Aye the two out will be on nothing wage wise too.

Yeah would suspect we'll be stuck with the transfer listed ones. Zero chance Booth or Crawford are walking away as nobody will offer them near what we're paying them, so we'll be paying them something either up front to leave or as part of a loan. We're effectively just pretending they're not here now though tbh, especially since both are constantly "injured" and unable to play. McGowan could stick around to cover CB with Parker leaving, which takes us to 28 players in the squad, 2 of them are Booth/Crawford.

25 probably the ideal size and we wouldn't be far off that if we punt the 3 and you forget about Richards who's just covering Sinclairs injury.

Actually think MacLean has done remarkably well to put what he has together given where we were even 3 weeks ago. Centre back looks weak unless Gordon can regain some form but at least has options everywhere else.

Clubs just need to suck it up sometimes if they let a bad manager assemble a poor squad as the focus needs to be on improving, even if you can't shift guys you'd like to. You're just cutting your own throat otherwise if there is too much emphasis the other way.

25 always seems right. We're particularly trim this season with 23, one of whom is 17 with no first team football under his belt and another has been out for 9 months.

I'd have liked a couple in today but main priority was not losing anyone and all things considered, no news is excellent news for us.

I did hope we'd have went for both McLellan and Olufunwa and do with them the same was we've done with a few others as they do seem the sort of players who have plenty of upside if they show up well. Lot of pressure on them though as they'll probably be first choice every week.

Aye, that wasn't meant as a dig. We carried the majority of Stubbs bloat for rest of that season after he went but had to let Kearney do his thing too.

Lots of pressure on a lot of young players in our squad this season, but that pressure was given to "experienced guarantees" last season and they flopped so why the f**k not trying youth instead?

MacLeans had to cut the squad from 39+ players, cut the wage bill massively, but also try and improve performances. All that with no scouting network, no previous work done for him, and months of catching up to do on rival clubs in terms of negotiating deals.

We might flop and struggle but at least hes not saddled us with years of overpaid, ageing, shit like Davidson did. The fact we're still suffering the side affects of decisions he made 2 years ago says it all.

Happy with these signings but can’t get over the fact that with all the good sense Macca appears to have that we haven’t signed a decent proper striker!! He must have faith that he can get Jephcott fit and scoring I guess. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It'll depend on how fit Kane and Clark can stay.

If we're only playing 1 then having May, Clark and Jephcott on the bench gets a you a big variety of options. Even as a front two they all feel top flight standard. Easy to forget May hit double figures last season too.

Charlton / Dumbarton fan here. Plus points of DJ are that he can sometimes wriggle out of tight spots on the wing, generally at his best in one touch plays and that he is a good community ambassador. However, he rarely makes good use of the ball. He seemed to be signed on the basis that he scored a couple of crackers against us while at Swindon. On his last game he seemed to be carrying a bit of timber. Charlton have been trying to offload him for a while now and I'm a bit shocked that he got as good a gig as St. Johnstone. Hope he does well for you.

Bar maybe Montgomery, you would argue that each addition is an upgrade on the player they are replacing....

Squad has a better balance and age about it now. Maybe a defender light especially if McGowan goes.

Need to then start talks with one or two about extensions, Phillips being the most obvious.
