Jim Spence is a knob. However, the torn faced one will be receiving a retrospective red.

Unless I'm mistaken, the rules are if the referee has dealt with it the compliance officer can't touch it.

Fucking hell. I only saw the incident, not the game. You mean the referee gave him a yellow? Christ.

Wait till you see the elbow Goldson took from Ryan Edwards that went unpunished. You'll shit your pants.

Operation Stop The Ten appears to have hit a snag.

Ordinarily I wouldn't have a problem with this - I think I said at the time that I could see it being either a yellow or a red, and if you want to argue either way then fine - BUT:

1) It's an interesting precedent to set and one that is likely to lead to a much bigger workload for the ex-referees (I think there was a similar case last season too IIRC). If we're saying that yellow cards can be upgraded to red cards if we feel that the act itself could constitute violent conduct, I can think of multiple incidents in the last few weeks that could be cited. Which leads me on to...

2) Very much feels like the disciplinary process is conducted by a casino and is based on a game of chance. It's extremely difficult to work out what gets cited and what doesn't these days, and the process is extremely inconsistent. I genuinely think the few months we had where the Compliance Officer appeared to vanish off the face of the Earth were much more preferable to prolonging the tedious bickering over potential red-card offences by tryhards that haven't even read the rulebook. There is nothing worse than arguing about interpretation of a set of rules on a Monday when there is actual football to be talked about.

3) The media very clearly has a disproportionate influence on the disciplinary process, and that's a problem because our journalists are mostly fucking idiots that don't know the rules.

4) If upheld, this gives Itten a chance to really cement his place, which he has earned. However, we'll probably just march a team of lawyers into the SFA offices and get off with it like we normally do (this is also a problem and shows why the disciplinary process doesn't work, as it disproportionately punishes smaller clubs who can't afford to do this). So I anticipate almost no effect on Rangers as a result of this.

5) What is so special about violent conduct red-card offences that makes them reviewable, when other red card offences are not?

Years ago Jason Talbot caught a hearts player with a high boot...he was booked for the offence at the time, however, the compliance officer reviewed it and gave him a multiple game ban. Just a few weeks ago Jason Holt caught a St Mirren player with a hard, high tackle which was given as a foul. It was reviewed after the match by the compliance officer and he was given a 2 game ban. This isn't a new thing the governing body have brought in to hinder the rangers' efforts in stopping 10 in a row...ITS....THE.....RULES
