Hopefully he has a good season with them as they were brilliant to watch until the league stopped for COVID and I think he should slot right in to their system.
JMDP
Front page of Marca today saying that one of the few Barca players deemed as unsellable, Griezmann, was actually offered to Atletico in a straight swap with Joao Felix. This was immediately turned down and a counter offer of Diego Costa and Thomas Lemar was offered to Barca for Griezmann, also turned down. Strange. As well as the utter shambles at Valencia, I hadn't even noticed the trouble at Malaga, who are also in dire financial straits and have started a collective dismissal process to essentially lay off all their players.

Michael W
It's a surprise that the President model that Barca operate doesn't end up unravelling more often. Encourages extreme short-termism and has backfired spectacularly here. A combination of failed big money transfers, massive wages and too many players plodding towards the last of their years at the top level. Their best player wants to leave and is now effectively on strike, they have no money and many of their players are too old to command a significant transfer fee. With the youth system not producing another Xavi/Iniesta or even a Pedro/Thiago, they've had to go and spend and have made a total arse of it. Griezmann and Dembele have proven to be expensive duds and, whilst unlikely they will recoup their money, those two are (alongside Messi) ironically their main marketable assets. Then there's the Coutinho disaster. They have totally failed to implement any contingency plan for replacing their players with any degree of success. £300m wasted on the players outlined above, who are also the 4th, 5th and 6th most expensive transfers of all time. There are of course ways and means of trying to address this, which involves hiring a manger who can identify the problems within the side and also summarily binning the idiot President who allowed the club to get into the state it has. Hiring a failed Everton manager that spent a lot of money on shite will not give you the first part of that.

Michael W
Some press reports that Barca have agreed a deal for Wijnaldum and just need to agree a fee with Liverpool now. Good player, but probably not what Barca need to get back to where they were.

Ron Aldo
Four year deal. For an initial €1.5m. Scarily good deal for Sevilla. Sums up Barca at the moment. Didn't PSG offer about 80 million euros for him just a couple of years ago?

They need a better team to play in but they are top drawer players.

Mr. Brightside
On the 20th anniversary of Lionel Messi signing for the club, seems quite poetic tbh.

Actually the 50th anniversary of Jimi Hendrix dying today too, and the 6th anniversary of indyref obviously. Quite a day. Would be very fitting if Bartomeu was punted today, its the only thing that could potentially make Messi stay.
