Just saw the goals. What a fantastic ball in from Cummings for the 4th, very good header too.

Our crossing suggested that Lennon is solving some of the problems that Stubbs did not. Despite some great football, we often struggled with basic principles & discliplines over the past two seasons. Lennon must have a good formula in training as we have continually provided answers where questions were often asked; an improvement on our crossing, plus four good headers, equalled four goals & three points.

A clinical Cummings and a comfortable cruise to a clean sheet against 4ton.

m9d the gap.

Is the manner of defeat not relevant? Realistically no one expects us to be going to Easter Road and winning but to take a 4-0 pumping while conceding every goal from a cross is unacceptable. The fact that we'll not be the only team in the league to take a pumping from Hibs doesn't mitigate our complete failure to compete with them or adjust throughout the match to limit their threat.

The failure to win any of our first three games is a bigger issue than our failure to keep the scoreline respectable yesterday, but it creates an overall picture of a dreadful league campaign so far. No wins in four games, with poor tactics surrendering our control of games and as a result a winning position twice. Seven goals conceded, all seven of them from crosses. Only three goals scored with our strikeforce of youth players and ringers only contributing one, while the manager has the budget to sign more players and has said publicly that he's choosing not to, despite this dismal start.

Ayr is must-win.

I'm not sure Morton's CBs won a header against Holt when he was on, was very impressed with his knock on work, especially with Shinnie who seemed to be working very close to him and Cummings. All in all, an impressive performance, we know we have the ability to put 3+ against teams each week so hopefully this is a more frequent affair.

Hibs were decent enough. But Morton were bloody brutal. Hibs shouldn't let this result get to their heads, other teams in the league would have given them a thumping yesterday as well. Still, the cross for the 4th goal, best i've seen at ER since Mixu's 3rd goal in the 6-2 game.

I'm quite enjoying the difference in style between Lennon and Stubbs. We used Stubbs' favoured system yesterday but it was completely different to watch. Last two years, we'd play some great stuff in these kind of games but were liable to concede or for our attacking play to fizzle out. It all seems a lot more relaxing to watch under Lennon. The exception would be a dodgy spell against Dunfermline but even then, we came through it and the game was killed stone dead on 75ish minutes - which is refreshing to see.

I notice there were four goals from crosses yesterday and none of them from Gray or Stevenson - McGinn, Fyvie etc going out wide and taking the layoff instead. That's an example of a problem Stubbs couldn't deal with in two years being identified and worked on in a few weeks. Great stuff.

People have it in for Forbes, but without his delivery from crosses and set-pieces we've very little chances to score with the players we have. We're toothless from open play. Forbes has about 5 or 6 goals/assists this season already. He needs to play.

How many goals are we losing though, because Forbes is breathing out of his arse after 55 minutes each week, doesn't win the ball back effectively and regularly gives it straight to the opposition? Forbes' creative assets are usually apparent in matches, but he's also been given a much more important, all-round role as a central midfielder. You can't have a complete passenger in that area of the park for 89 minutes of a match until we get a set-piece.

We're hardly dealing with the next Riquelme here: more like the new Steven Masterton.
