The major difference is that Trump is more volatile in his rhetoric and more publicly willing to cede his authority on matters to the military top brass. The problem there is that you're essentially relying on the other powers in the world to look past Trump's nonsense and trust that things will carry on as they are. It's domestic policy where people should be worried as he's both volatile, incompetent and vindictive. Which is a positive in one regard as it inspires a lot of reaction in people that normally wouldn't bother when it's done with bureaucratic efficiency and effective PR. However, I do agree that most Useful Idiots of varying degrees are well enough intentioned and don't actually want political repression at the end of the barrel of a gun / handle of a shovel / walls of a cell, especially down the line when they realise it could be them next.
