The Xbox 360 is my favourite console of all time, because it hit that sweet spot of me having loads of free time and loads of spare money to buy games. For about a 5-6 year period I could play what I wanted, when I wanted.

I was falling out of love with gaming before I got a 360. I was pretty much only buying GTA or PES on the PS2. Then those gits at Microsoft got me hooked on achievements.

Keep meaning to ask this question to a PC gamer. I intend to get a good gaming PC eventually but when I visit Twitch I have to admit that the enhanced FPS does hurt my eyes quite a lot. My question is is this because I'm watching it or is this what I can expect from PC gaming? If it's the latter I may always be a console gamer as I expect that would give me headaches.

A higher frame rate gives you headaches? That's genuinely the first time I've ever heard that.

You could do what I'm currently doing - playing old games on a ten-year-old PC because my son's stolen the gaming rig

It hasn't given me headaches but like I say, when I watch PC gamers on Twitch it hurts my eyes a bit. I expect if I were to play the games it would end up giving me headaches but that's why I asked if it was the FPS or because I'm watching through Twitch.

Go on Twitch, watch a game and get back to me if that's how it is when you play yourself [emoji38]

Will do, but tomorrow. I'm not sure this old thing could handle much more than Minesweeper  :(

You want me to go on the internet and spend actual time watching someone else play a video game?

Sounds like something kids these days would do. Id rather listen to Coldplay

You dunno what you're missing, man! On both account 8)

I can't understand these people who pay to watch folk on Twitch. Mental behaviour. But for me it's really handy to see actual gameplay footage of games I'm unsure whether or not I'll like. I'll be going on to see if this new samurai game looks any good, for example.

I sub to Limmy on Twitch tbf, good value for how funny he is.
Each to their own. Subs get their own private chat and sometimes access to private streams? As well as access to Instagram for a perv [emoji38] It's not something I would pay £5(?) for given I just want to watch the game.

Funny you mention him, I watched his stream last night for a wee bit for the first time. He was extremely quiet so I assume his Mrs was in bed!

I like this console chat. It's always nice reading about how the other half live.

Twitch is just streaming a 720/1080p @50/60hz video capture of a persons game footage, if you have problems with the visuals from that you should have the same problems from watching youtube or probably just looking at any monitor or phone screen.

But, so was the Sega Saturn, which came out at the same time and was vastly superior, in terms of specs. So, again, it comes down to games

Saturn. Vastly superior? C'mon now.

No they get a 5 second shout-out for their name and a couple of emoticons. Sometimes twitch accounts need a sub to watch past broadcasts but broadly its more about supporting the person you admire rather than getting access to something private.

No; for what it's worth, the only perks you get as a sub to him is just use of stream emotes. He doesn't run ads or anything for non-subs so the viewing experience is the same regardless if you sub or not. Everyone can join his discord as well, the community is really good.

He's been daystreaming/nightstreaming dead by daylight quite a bit recently, and it's been brilliant viewing. Sometimes at night he might be a bit quieter as to not wake up his Mrs but the stream can still be hilarious.

Yeah, I have been watching as well. He had a really interesting chat about his mental health the other day after playing Project Winter and how he has always struggled to follow people in conversations; then chatted about trying to speak to a doctor about getting diagnosed. I think he's brilliant, always entertaining but discusses some big issues and is brutally honest about himself.

I'm sorry, people pay money to watch other folk play games over the internet? Have their bank accounts maxed out or something?

Also, the Atari Jaguar was clearly the greatest games machine of that generation. It did many more bits, so I am correct.

That era really was the last gasp of the lunatics who released new home microcomputers every few weeks in the Eighties. I just found a few games for the Philips CD-i...fucking mental that anybody looked at things like that, the 3DO, and the Commodore CD32 and thought, "aye, folk will buy this".

@19QOS19 - I think you need to link to an example of a stream that your eyes/head don't like so we can determine whether or not you have the bad AIDS. I'm still not getting my head round this.

I absolutely loved the Achievement system and was an unabashed Gamerscore-hunter for quite a time. Looking back there's a ton of more productive things I could have been doing (golf, gym, guitar) but I fair enjoyed myself.

I've never paid money for a Twitch subscription but most of my night-time falling-asleep viewing is of various gaming-related YouTube / Twitch channels. I find it very relaxing.
