I barely watch the cup final these days but I'm excited by this one should be a good day.

I've never been looking forward to a Scottish cup final that's not involved my own team more.

Hope Hibs win. Would be a fitting way for them to end their cup hoodoo.

I honestly don't think there will ever have been a game in the history of Scottish football which will mean more to the fans than this (speaking from a Hibs perspective anyway). It will either be the greatest day of my life or the worst, guarenteed tears one way or another. Could you imagine the scenes if Hibs won? Just goes to show why football is so great, Hibs have been brutal for a good three years with no hope on the horizon and now we have this to look forward to.

The only thing which gives me any confidence is that our defence looks a lot more solid, and Fenlon is meant to be a cup specialist. Without wanting to sound like I'm prone to exaggeration, James McPake is the greatest sportsman of all time.

If your going to end a 110 year hoodoo this will be the ultimate way to do it.

That Erin Go Bragh zinger in particular. The less said about some of the other Hibs #bois on here, the better. titter.png

A poster called happy hibee on that salt and sauce cup final thread told a hearts fan "you are hurting , it's obvious , just deal with it " about three days before the final

That c**t was mentally ill. Would post 18 paragraphs in a tear soaked rage if Hearts had gotten a somewhat dodgy corner against Burntisland Shipyard u14s.

I can give hibs their victory in May. It must have been exceptional.

However, to lay the superior outcome to rest, I don't know any hibs fan who wouldn't have swapped popping their Scottish cup cherry 5-1 against Hearts, instead of 3-2 v Rangers.

Its as basic and as simple as that.

I have my doubts about this.

Obviously, on paper a big defeat of Hearts would sound more attractive.

The way that the victory over Rangers did in fact transpire this year though, is virtually impossible to top.

Except for a 5-1 victory over us.

I can give hibs fans their moment. Actually came easier than I thought it would.

But every single one of them is lying in your face if they say they wouldn't rather have had 5-1 against us in 2012.

You only need to read the 5-1 cup thread on here and on hibs.net to see how they thought it was going to turn out and how if they did it, it'd have unwritten years of derby domination/pain.

You can big up how much beating rangers means to your average hibs fan  I hear it all the time in Edinburgh, mainly due to the fact that they've got to try to deflect their woeful and utterly laughable derby record.

Make no mistake though. They'd have fucking loved to have ended us and our derby record. Much, much more than the current euphoria over their first proper moment in football.

He had about 4 pages of telling hearts fans how it was simply destiny and to just accept it . bizzare reading , even a few of the more sensible Hibees told him to wind his neck in .

Nah, I'll continue to make the mistake of believing otherwise.

This is all very nice but I have no doubt that Hibs fans couldn't give a f**k who they won the cup against.

I don't know what team you support but if you have any knowledge of derbies, especially a thirty year long one sided one, then you'll appreciate my point.

The simple choice put before hibs fans would only end up with one answer.

Surely all right thinking football fans in Edinburgh dislike their rival club, but reserve their real visceral loathing for the OF?
