lanky_ffc
According to most news outlets, he's set to be named SFA Performance Director. Not really sure what qualifies him for this position given that he's only been first team manager or assistant at previous clubs (AFAIK). There's also the murky details of fees paid on transfer deals whilst at Cardiff and the subsequent scandal over text messages which saw him miss out on the Palace job and contributed to his sacking at Wigan. All in all, it reeks of 'jobs for the boys' and the SFA choosing the cheap, available option. Northboy
It doesn't strike me as an inspiring appointment although first team/assistant manager experience is more than Brian McLair had.
DA Baracus
A truly hideous appointment that sends out the wrong message on so many levels. It's getting to the Mixu level of "what's the fucking point?!" when this sort of shit happens.
Malcolm Malcolm
Not a peep from the lads, of course. Malky's sound, he's one of us, etc. etc.
1320Lichtie
Sums the SFA up. Joabs fur the Bois.
JakeSAFC
SFA hiring a racist doesnt surprise me tbh.
Peppino Impastato
In one appointment sums up why Scotland have struggled so badly for 20 years. The sfa is not fit for purpose, the entire lot need sacked and replaced.
sergie's no1 fan
To be fair to the SFA Austin McPhee was a bawhair away from getting the gig which would have been a fantastic appointment, unfortunately Hearts sneaked in and he obviously preferred to be Cathro's right hand man than take this job. Mackay was the 2nd choice.
ICTChris
"He's a snake, a gay snake" "Nothing like a Jew that sees money slipping through his fingers" "Not many white faces amongst that lot but worth considering" Sacked from his last job for rampaging uselessness. Fudding about with Cardiff in the lower reaches of the EPL. Decent record at Watford. What experience does he have that would suggest he'd be useful as a Performance Director? It's kind of a director of football role, building coaching networks, improving facilities and the overall state of Scottish football. What has McKay ever done on those lines?
Savage Henry
I'm guessing he ticked the not foreign box and that was enough. Bewildering.
HibeeJibee
I suppose you have to qualify it by recalling that the shortlist appears to have been restricted to Scots and the others were John Collins, John Park, Alan Irvine and a 1 or 2 others I've forgotten. Expected this after McPhee snubbed it for Hearts:. All the managers asked were saying Mackay should get it, a great lad, all that sort of thing. I'm guessing there weren't many Jews, "chinks", "gay snakes", blacks, or "bouncing falsies" on the selection panel, anyway...
Mr. Brightside
Disgraceful decision on many levels.
Ira Gaines
Howling stuff on every level. Are they actively trying to make people stop giving a shit?

1320Lichtie
Anyone got a good job description of this role? Think it will be quite a funny read now after seeing who they've decided is best for it. Hopeless.
Malcolm Malcolm
This is an aggressively stupid appointment. I would've thought John Park had more relevant experience.
Sherrif John Bunnell
Mackay: Attention players, we have completed our evaluation of the squad. We regret to announce the following lay-offs, which I will read in alphabetical order: [pause] Mackay: Anya, Ikechi. [pause] Mackay: That is all.

RandomGuy.
Absolutely no idea why the SFAs shortlist was all of "managers", when clearly the best option would've been someone who's had this type of role before, more than likely a foreigner. Its an absolute joke that Mackay can be completely blackballed from the management game, but can stroll into the most important job we have.
