Selkirk FC thread

The LL's fining of Selkirk for me is appropriate for now.

It sends a shot across the bows of SFC and they now know the clock is ticking.

Anymore postponements though and its time to go,whether thats a year out or whatever.

They should do the decent thing and walk away if anymore shenanigans happen.

A defibrillator is an expensive bit of kit, so I'm sure for insurance purposes they have to limit access which is why it's locked up out with their governance.

It's also a dangerous bit of kit. I've been on basic first aid courses in the past, none of them covered the use of a defibrillator. Selkirk presumably have designated first aiders who have been on a specialist course. Perhaps if Vics got a rep to go on the same course Selkirk would allow access.

Yet Selkirk FC are on the list of available defribrallators.....

A wee update regarding the defibrillator. It's only for Selkirk FC and not for Selkirk Vics who use the changing rooms or the supporters.

Who makes these terrible decisions? An absolute joke. Disgusting.

Should be available for all who use/enter the ground....it is a life saver and should not be locked away when the facilities are being used.

Wouldn't it make sense to just award a win to the other team if Selkirk can't field a team?  Not going to help them much to keep postponing matches.  I know the cup match went down as a walkover

I'm sure that would go down well with, say, Kelty if they lost the league on Goal Difference to, say, East Kilbride after the former was awarded a 3-0 win and the latter had beaten them 10-0.

Fair enough, you're right.  I think Selkirk will struggle even more in the long run if they end up with a few postponed matches to catch up with and very few players.  Don't suppose there are many options now if they stay in the league.

On defribs... if you phone 999 and tell them someone is having a heart attack, if there's a public defrib nearby they'll give you the code. There's one outside my office and I've been on the training course for it (delivered by army medics, they do lots of these). The kit literally tells you what to do. There are instructions with diagrams, but they also talk to you and tell you so many breaths, so many compressions (with beats) and then charge and zap. I'm sure it would be much tougher doing it for real, but I've certainly got more confidence after practicing with one.

As for Selkirk, it's disappointing if their defrib isn't accessible to the public or to others using the facilities, but I'm presuming it isn't in an outdoor box, which might add cost. I certainly don't think there could be a health & safety excuse for preventing others using the facilities from having access.

Ours is on the outside wall of the pavilion in an outside box,  so anyone with access to the ground also has access to it, as it should be.  It's there to save lives, not play petty politics with.
