Warburton Resigns

It sums it all up if the Rangers fans decide to side with a known liar and fraud against a man that has been so far come across as honest and upfront while building a decent Rangers team that has been a huge improvement on what they had before. It takes time to build a successful squad and it will take a few years to build a team capable of challenging Celtic for the title on a regular basis, especially this Rodgers side. Warburton isn't perfect no manager is, but the unrealistic goals set at the start of the season is all what this is about and then no one expected that Celtic could in February be still unbeaten and 27 points clear.

What has given Rangers fans the reason to trust without question the leadership at their club?

Is this Dave King 'dodging bullets' yet again, something he seems quite an expert at.

A useful attribute for the Celtic manager a few seasons ago...

It is absolutely astonishing that Dave King retains so much support, he has talked a good job but failed to come up with the goods,  shows no real interest in watching the team or being transparent with dealings ,all things he made a big noise about when trying to takeover .

A very good article by Gordon Waddell in the Sunday Mail.

Surely DK was declared as being not 'Fit and Proper to run a football club' - what happened to that?

I'm sure the SFA will have an credible answer that will satisfy us all......

They simply deemed him 'fit and proper'.

Incredible, I know.

A chance to save around £700,000 in a settlement package was an opportunity not to miss.

It was if it results in a pyrrhic victory which is what'll hopefully happen.

It's the most powerful collective in British football, effectively. They've successfully defeated the EPL before.

He read that and that's the part that caught his attention.

It's because for many of them, the King posturing ties in neatly with their own vision of the club.

The idea that Warburton tried to be sneaky and has received a 'telt' has terrific appeal for lots of them.  The idea of only wanting people who want to be there, also speaks to the ludicrous sense of stature and entitlement we know so well.

Some Rangers fans are making sensible enough noises involving misgivings and even embarrassment.  A huge number of them can however be very readily seduced by references to the idea of betrayal and a lack of loyalty.

I think a lot of the more vocal but not so bright ones love a simple narrative of good guys and bad guys. It plays to their perpetual sense of injustice and belief that there are only two types of people staunch Rangers people defending their 'magnificent institution' and 'traditions' and those looking to take advantage of it or damage it. It allows them to pick a side to be on without thinking too much. It also makes them very easy to manipulate. There are I'm sure a lot of sensible rational Rangers fans who I'd assume are sceptical of King  and any communications from Ibrox but they don't make as much noise as the mob.

He appointed the wrong man since now Warburton has been regarded as a failure so should shoulder that responsibility for that decision. King comes across as a hypocrite talking about having people 'who want to be here' when he spend more time in South Africa than in Glasgow, no wonder the club is still a shambles.

Dave King has claimed that £18 million has been invested. Given that theyve barely spent a lot on players, you would imagine that the majority of this will have been used for mammoth wages and keeping the lights on etc. However if thats the case, where has the money that Sevco have raised through season tickets went? Id imagine that 50,000 season tickets this season mustve raised at least an 8 figure sum?

Aye, seems weird that King is pointing the finger at Warbs* for things that he had the final say on AND , I assume, he(DK) gave final approval.

They must be the best customer base on the planet.

On another thread a couple of weeks ago we had a two day discussion on Warburton being the dogs bollocks for standing up to Walter with Forever Blueco  quoting his backing from the Rangers Media site which is alledgedly  the voice of the Rangers support.  Warburton's approach was the most sensible one according to the masses.   Now they are slagging Warburton's credibility.  Football fans   Rangers fans are a fickle bunch.

Gonna call this one now:

Rangers tried to pull a quick one on Warburton. They knew his "resignation" wasn't legally binding but were hoping he'd go without much hassle. He's naw taking their shite, however, and wants his pay out. Whilst King and co bluster publicly about their club's prestige and Warburton not being committed as we speak lawyers from both sides are sorting out some kinda pay off and gagging clause.

That's a promisingly realistic scenario.
