The timing just seemed strange - Barton shows up and Warburton can't be arsed to fly back for the unveiling.  Maybe 'flying back' is/was beyond Rangers' wallet though.

^^^ This.

You've got a big name, marquee signing and the actual manager of the team isn't there for the press conference and you leave old man Weir to do the photo call with him. Regardless of whether it actually "matters" whether he's there in the grand scheme of things or not, it doesn't really send out a particularly joined up message.

Also his 4 3 3 system had limitations with his current squad but he continued to use it when a simple switch to two upfront would've suited us better.

If he was looking at a long term thing then he'd be trying to keep a system and players would need to get used to it. No point switching to a 4-4-2 for the sake of a few months if the same issues were gonna crop up next season...

I'm sure I read about Warbs discussing signing Barton with Sean Dyche and getting a glowing character reference, Mcparland might've been involved too.
Rumours on the Rangers sites were that the board were against signing Barton but that's just rumours.

McParland was at Brentford with Warburton and Barton in his short term with Burnley before joining MW's staff at Ibrox. The connection's there.

Can just imagine Keef Jackson sitting with a glass of whiskey and a loaded gun contemplating going on. No credibility as Sevco cheerleader and at Jabba Traynor's beck and call. Have some dignity Keef pull the trigger.

There's a video doing the rounds of De Boer (think it's Frank) giving an interview in which someone has changed the subtitles to make it seem like he's being asked (and is subsequently interested in) the vacant job at Rangers.

Their fans are lapping it up. Even when the original video has been posted. Think it's when he's discussing a Holland game

Keevins is the one I'm worried about.

Well, I say worried. I can't stand Keevins.

Warbie using Sevco as a stepping stone. How could this be? Treating the mighty Sevco with such Contempt.

It still doesn't register that the average player (something Sevco have in abundance) and manager only move to Sevco for one of two reasons. Either to earn silly money they wouldn't get anywhere else, or to use them as a stepping stone.

Never mind. The tactical genius that is McLeish can now rock up (on stupid money) and save the day!

Nope. There are a huge amount of young Scottish players who view playing for either Rangers or Celtic as the pinnacle of their careers. Using them as a stepping stone is exactly what they should be doing, but because they're 'good Rangers men' they're happy to take the Ibrox Shilling.

I've watched said video and they're not.  It's clearly a rather nicely-done jape.

Signings under Warburton...

Wilson (Free)
Foderingham (Free)
Thompson (Free)
Halliday (Free)
Forrester (Free)
Gostomski (Free)
Barton (Free)
Hill (Free)
Kranjcar (Free)
Gilks (Free)
Hodson (Undisc.)
Senderos (Free)
Bates (Free)
Windass (60k)
Crooks (60k)
Holt (65k)
Waghorn (200k)
Tavernier (200k)
Kiernan (220k)
Alnwick (250k)
Rossiter (250k)
Dodoo (250k)
O'Halloran (500k)
Garner (1.5M)

I'm making that out to be Just over £3.5 Million (depending how much Hodson went for really). Assuming some of those fees are being paid up in installments or whatever I'll be generous and say £3,000,000 has been spent by Sevco in the last 18 months.

So if King is saying that £18,000,000 of the warchest has gone, minus £3,000,000 transfer fees, that means £15,000,000 has went on wages?

Right. Bit of tricky maths coming up.

8 of those players came in  18 months ago and are still there. That's a total of 144 months.

3 came in 12 months ago but one left in the summer. That's 30 months.

12 players came in six months ago for 72 months total

And, obviously, the management team who who just "resigned" had been there for 18 months each

So the total amount of months all the signings/staff have been there is now 300 months (not including loan signings).

Multiply that by 4 and we have 1,200 weeks worth of wages.

Gives us an average of £12,500 per week as a wage.

Rangers are fucking mental

Excellent work.

Anyone with eyes to see must realise that either King is lying through his teeth to the Orcs (from the clear way the figures simply don't add up to King's claims) or far from lessons having been learned after going arse over tit in the Championship, they are up to much the same lunacy as before of spending what they cannot hope to earn back in the short term with not merely outstanding bills to pay but large debts which could be called in at any moment.

Once bitten, surely twice shy for Rangers fans - if they don't turn up at Ibrox demanding answers before, during & after the match, they'll deserve to see their club fold. Of course, that the one in charge remains securely tucked away in South Africa - & thus safe from any vengeful mob, let alone not keeping a proper watch on his "investment" - ought to have set alarm bells ringing long before now.
