IIRC, did Partick Thistle not have another young centre back come through at around the same time as Lindsay but got sold on already? Could be talking shite, but what happened to him?

if he has pace he's a millionaire. None and a few hundred a week at Thistle. That's how it works.

I get the feeling there might just be the possibility for a middle ground here.

Ok Mr Strachan. I get it now.

He's a young centre back in a defense that has had 8 clean sheets in the last 10 games. He's a young centre back who has scored 7 goals this season. He is on the radar of some English clubs and won't be earning a few hundred quid for much longer.

By your judgement, his pace will improve at that point.

Wha? If he's slow he won't get a good move, if he isn't, he will. That's the first thing clubs are interested in. His stats in the SPFL are meaningless without a turn of pace. In Scotland terms the last thing we need is to be defending deep. He looks like a very good player judging by highlights and reports and I'll be absolutely delighted if he doesn't have a pace problem.

I'm not sure what the infatuation with pace is. If that's what it was all about, Ade Azeez would make a cracking centre-half. If the worry is that he'll get done by balls over the top then don't worry. His awareness and positioning is impressive for a youngster and that means that when the long balls come in he tends to get a head to them, I can't think of one situation where we've lost a goal because of a lack of pace in defence. Anyhow, pace or no pace the idea is that he deserves a chance when the alternatives are the rapid Christophe Berra and Gordon Greer. The biggest problem for me is that he is prone to the odd mistake but our recent back-three has meant he can make those mistakes but the team won't suffer from it and he can learn from them without beating himself up over it as they don't lead to goals.

So you're confirming he's slow?

Went to Wigan then disappeared. The type of players who'll randomly become first choice for them and end up with a cap within the next year.

I won't get carried away with Lindsay, Partick fans will, naturally, be bias, like we all are, and he's playing in an inform team.

Like Kingsley and Biabi have went to Swansea from Falkirk and disappeared? That's a bit simplistic. Though it might be an interesting comparison to see where these two players from Firhill end up in say five years time, especially if Lindsay stays for another season. Hendry barely played any first team football before his move.

If true then at this point the league should have been melted down and sold to the scrappy's.

We turned down bids of £250k from Rangers, Wolves and Bolton, and he still couldn't get on the pitch for Scotland.

Looking back its a shame hes had so many injuries, had phenomenal talent for a spell.

Hendry made his debut in the final game of the 14/15 season against Motherwell and kept a clean sheet but it was a game where both sides were weakened and Motherwell had an eye on the play-off finals. He then came on as a sub to keep a clean sheet alongside Lindsay against Hamilton in the opening day of the next season after Frans was sent off within the first half hour. In my opinion, he left far too early. I think that's where Lindsay is different, I feel he's played at this level to a point where if he makes the correct step-up he'll continue his growth. The key is that he gets games, wherever he goes as we've seen too many players go down south and end up being loaned out and then released.

I meant more from the public eye up here, than actually off the face of the Earth. I'm sure I heard he left them on loan at some point, might be wrong though.

As I say though, hes the type of player you forget about, before they suddenly emerge.

Uninspiring loan spells at Shrewsbury and MK Dons in the past two seasons, back at Wigan now and still hasn't played a league game there.

Jack Henry was OK for the sort time he played. I'd take him back if Lindsay goes.
It was a daft move for his career. He was never going to get a game for a promotion chasing EFL Championship team. The Maserati probably helped though.
