A superb statement. Dunbar will be a very welcome addition to the EoSL and to the SFA pyramid . No quibble with that but the key to that statement is they do not want to lose their local derbies and the cost of travel in the new junior set up. This is exactly what some of us in the South league have been saying when West of Scotland clubs are applying to join the South. Seems like everyone is going round in circles. The end result of that is some clubs will disappear up their own proverbials!

Raises the question as to how SoSFL clubs see the future of their league, and at what level ?

The not so nice people in the junior sub forum are raging. My maths suggests that is a tipping point reached with the EOSL now having 30 members and the ERJFA having 29 members south of the LL Tay divide.

The end result of that is some clubs will disappear up their own proverbials! The problem is numbers - you need enough teams to form multiple divisions which can then be regionalised. Therefore except for those in the top division covering the whole West of Scotland, all other teams stay in their region and keep the derbies. The west has not fractured like the east yet, it should still be possible for the west Juniors to join en masse and the SoS to slot in somewhere. Maybe the top SoS teams go to the WoS tier 6, and the rest stay for a South division at tier 7? 20 minutes ago, ShrimpLok said: My maths suggests that is a tipping point reached with the EOSL now having 30 members and the ERJFA having 29 members south of the LL Tay divide. Craigroyston and Dunbar makes it 28 EoS, 30 ERJFA (16 north of the Forth, 14 Lothians). No brainer for the Midlothian clubs to go - Newtongrange must surely follow, they have a SGM on Saturday. If all the rumours/meetings come to fruition it could be 35-23 by the EoS AGM. Edited May 24, 2018 by Ginaro

By comparison, the EoSL has now issued a statement confirming that the closing date for late applications is Thursday 31st May. 14 minutes ago, ShrimpLok said: My maths suggests that is a tipping point reached with the EOSL now having 30 members and the ERJFA having 29 members south of the LL Tay divide. 26 clubs, plus 4 late applications declared/accepted (apparently), the EoSL has 30 clubs. If by 31/5/18, it extends from 2x16, to 2x18, there would be 6 vacancies left for 2018/19. Is this the maximum number ?

Burnie_man
It looks like Arniston, Craigroyston, Dunbar and Penicuik were all accepted, so now upto 30. Some talk of two others applying so we could be at 32. Deadline now been set at 31st May for further applications according to the website.

St Andrews meeting tonight, Newtongrange meeting tomorrow so could easily be 32 by the deadline. Wonder if Linlithgow will get an application in and then rubber stamp it at their meeting on the 4th. When is the EoS AGM?

Can remember applications were going to be accepted pending club AGM ratification where the March 31st deadline was concerned. I'd question whether the 32 thing means much. Seriously doubt that any credible applicant would be turned down. Edited May 25, 2018 by LongTimeLurker

Re Penicuik, what does "looks like" mean, because all I've seen are a few posts here quoting each other, and one from an actual Penicuik fan implying they haven't even applied?

LongTimeLurker
By the time there are 36 they could also do 3 x 12. If their argument in a PWG context is that there is no need for east region entry at tier 6, they pretty much have to take any ersjfa member that applies from south of the Tay.

True, but far from ideal as the clubs would be playing each other 3 times in 2018/19. A better choice might be to suspend some cup competitions for one season only. Can we expect an official notification about the final EoSL list of clubs/structure, next Friday ? Or will this be subject to approval at the AGM on 7th June ?
LongTimeLurker
The latter I suspect.
