Stranraer FC 2017-18

Don't always agree with chasing former players but see Mark Stewart has been released by Raith. Six goals in eight gams for us during his loan spell with us, all be it a good few seasons ago.

At 28 he might still fancy a craic at full time football if it's on offer.

Certainly a position we need to strengthen in.

I heard the reason he left dumbarton was he couldnt handle the traveling emoji23.png..

M£NTAL!

Quite glad we wont be facing him next season. Sad seeing a player who is a stand out at this level (most of the time) drop down a division.

Another good capture made by your manager - not a player mind you -
but bringing in Stuart Wild to run the Under-20 team. Came in after
the turn of the year, and played a huge part in your Under-20s
finishing higher up the league than they did last season( bottom),
I know Stuart very well. Had some great footballing teams at
Renfrew Vics over many a season, was involved at Kilmarnock for
some seven years, and is a former Sunday Mail Grassroots Coach
of the Year. Knows his stuff and will improve the work ethic of those
players even further.

Seriously!!!! He came in at the tail end, claiming he "made a huge part in your under 20s finishing higher up the league is utter CRAP. Maley and McGowan (coaches) started that squad from nothing. All the boys were 98 born and had 3 years at it. Finished 2nd bottom in 1st season with McGill, Turner and Kemp moving into 1st team. 2nd season saw them get great results and competing against full time clubs like Morton, Airdrie and Ayr (although not full time) which saw Sherrie, Maley and McGowan involved in 1st team. They finished 3rd bottom from a league of 8 when Turner (coach) left and Wilde came in as number 2 with 5 games to go and the same squad being used. Maley has now moved on and the blueprint has been left for year three which was always the plan when Stranraer 20s would begin compete. So let's get our facts right here before singing praises!! Mr Wilde may be your pal but certainly can't take the credit for the 20s year on year growth.

So Willie Gibson has decided to sign for Peterhead?????  Well they also tried to sign 2 of East Fife players for silly money but were turned down and they resigned for us. So therein is the answer he is a money grabber.

Hopefully Mr Wilde will instill a bit more passion to the 20s and fingers crossed be a tad more dedicated than his predecessors.

Also finishing anything higher than bottom has got to be a bonus and to be fair before he arrived on the scene it didn't look like they would get even that.

Did McGill not sign as a first team player after being released by Ayr?

Think Kemp also signed as a first team player.

Disappointing decision from the club not to offer the early bird deal on season tickets this year.
Trying to make up for it by including two friendlies and entrance in to reserve games but that doesn't really wash.
For those that travel home and away the South League games aren't much use.
FC Twente friendly is attractive but game against Larne is like a game against Girvan.

I've heard a few others not overjoyed with this, however we are still relatively cheap compared to other clubs in the division and the south of Scotland games will be handy for some of the support that can't make as many away games. I get your point though mate.

Can't say I remember him standing out for Peterhead against us but that's maybe just poor memory on my part. Nice to have a wide player added. We now have nine players who can play in midfield.
