We always seem to make the same mistakes against Thistle at McDiarmid Park. We start with 4 against their 5, they overrun us and either score or take control of the game. We then make an adjustment and bring ourselves back into the game. Just start with 5 in midfield Tommy. it's ok - we'll forgive you. Mannus/Clark Foster Anderson Shaughnessy Easton Alston Paton Craig Swanson Wotherspoon Maclean Wotherspoon dropping in as and when required. Yes. For the past 97 matches against Thistle this is the case. They absolutely dominate us and either take the lead, or their failure to score lets us sneak a result. Tommy Wright has generally been excellent in adapting the way we play to suit the opposition, if we lose then he more often than not learns from it and we change things and usually do better the next time. Thistle seem to be the one exception to this as he doggedly goes for two up front and our strikers hardly get a kick for long periods. Thistle are a solid team built on a good defence and a midfield who like to keep possession. They perhaps lack the attacking flair of Saints, who have scored 9 more goals in the league this season, but are always a tough opponent. Usually not too many goals in it either way... We've covered two of the countries on the map (one of which represented by the letter 'y'). Would've been 3 if we hadn't shat the bed against the might Alashkert of Armenia. tree house tam
We'll likely get papped out by an Irish or Welsh team so need not worry about the giants of Armenia.

Radford
Maybe a final chance for Scobbie to play himself into a deal tomorrow, with Anderson suspended. Like others have pointed out, hopefully Wright comes up with something different tomorrow as what we usually do against Thistle at home hasn't worked for a while now. Certainly don't envisage a two of Paton and Craig yielding much joy in the middle of the park.

Fuctifano
St Johnstone celebrating the 1980s is nothing too bad , for comparison the fans of our last opponents were celebrating the 17th century.
