glenburn bud
I think it’s a very interesting signing, this is the first player to come over after we arranged the partnership between the two clubs. Goodwin states they’ve had him training with the squad for a while and he looks sharp, and offers something different. Hopefully a gem that scores a few goals.
Lex
18 months...so if he proves successful and gets attention from bigger clubs, he will leave on a free. [emoji20] Or if he’s pish, we can let him go for nothing at the end of next season. We can’t be giving unproven guys like this any kind of long term deal.
Ric
Considering we are top heavy in regard to strikers, and less well stocked on attacking wingers, I presume the latter is where Greive will be deployed.

Hope not. This guy scores. Our 'strikers' don't.

Cost/benefit - how much would we have made from McGrath if he had another year on his contract?

Had he continued this season with the same scoring rate as last season it would have been 7 figures however given this season's form I'd say less than half that.

Lex
Cost/benefit - how much would we have made from McGrath if he had another year on his contract?McGrath was proven at a higher level than this guy, and he got a two and a half year deal which was a pretty big risk for us. Thankfully it kind of paid off. It’s unusual for any senior player at our level to sign for longer than two-three years. It’s too risky for both club and player. The 18 month contract seems right to me. If he’s hopeless he won’t have cost us much. If he’s any good we will likely have him here for a year and a half and both parties will benefit from that. Of course if he does turn out to be good enough for this level we will offer him an extended deal fairly quickly, like we did with McGrath.
Bonksy+HisChristianParade
Out of interest, how did this seemingly random connection with the Kiwi side come about? Seems quite a strange one.

Wil be interesting to see what he brings. Can we all just note the "ei" spelling if his name, though. Let's not have another 'Morais' debacle. So, no space here for 'Saints and Greavsie' patter then?

We have a young Aussie lad on our books who I believe came from Para.

Hopefully he keeps up those goal to game ratios… It's a 18 month loan deal according to STV News. Anyway as long as he does the business.

Doesn't say anything about a loan on STV website - either way, we wouldn't be loaning a player from an amateur side.

The official site could be read either way, imo.. The 22-year-old forward joins the club on an 18-month deal from the New Zealand side. It makes no odds, of course, if he's here for 18 months then it's pretty irrelevant now whether that is a loan of a permanent deal.
