Bobby_F
Only thing worse than Blue Brazil TV was Saints' performance. Really awful. Edited July 16, 2022 by Bobby_F

Probably why the league cup group stage was binned before. Glorified friendlies that are actually quite important. Wonder how long it will be before Premiership clubs want the format changed back to straight knockouts again.

Even if we are treating these games as friendlies, that performance today - against a depleted lowland league team - would be ringing alarm bells.
Dirty Sanchez
Tedious again. Difficult to see what the game plan is. At least it was warmer than that Arctic midweek game the last time I was there.
glenburn bud
Robinson in his post match interview saying the pitch was a poor one, very dry and no use for passing football. One ball in the stadium gave Cowdenbeath the chance to interrupt play constantly, with 40 second breaks in play when the ball had to be retrieved.
Buttocks Brown
Robinson not unhappy post-match on Radio Scotland. Would have liked more goals but a poor pitch for passing. No rhythm to the game. Cowdenbeath well-organised and just sat in 40 yards from goal. Brophy to get game time in next 2 matches, thought today was a bit too soon. No mention of Carson.

Going by Robinsons comments it looks like we had won the game early and it was a case of seeing it out easily with no injuries. Again begs the question what's the point of these games. Cowdenbeath only had 3 on their bench today.
houston_bud
Doesn't sound great. If we do try and bring in another keeper it's not exactly a ringing endorsement of the other two. If they're not good enough to play, why not move them on?

There is significant prize money to be had from progressing in this tournament. We just can’t afford to miss the opportunity to progress.
Kempes
I’d rather we went with the keepers we have than bring in Robbie McCrorie. Just saying.
Buttocks Brown
The Carson situation looks ominous. Knee scan.... He injured his knee playing for Motherwell in October '20. Was operated on and returned on Boxing Day only to damage it again in his second game back (a defeat to Killie the day before Robinson resigned). Didn't play again that season nor for Motherwell. His next appearance was in August '21 for Dundee Utd and he went onto play plenty of games last season. Presuming that same knee is causing concern again now. Hope he gets good news.
jm1
He didn't have that much to do today but Urminsky dealt with everything well. I'd rather see him get a chance ahead of loaning folk like McCrorie. Edited July 16, 2022 by jm1

Lyness has been a great deputy GK for us but after his wee run in the team near the end of last season, I wouldn't feel 100% comfortable with him as no1. The young lad could well be the next Ludo or he could be a Robertson/Scrimgour. We don't know but Robinson won't want to find out. It's his job on the line. StJohnstone are proof last season, if they didn't have a keeper as good as Clarke they'd have been relegated. Alnwick propped us up as well. Hopefully Carson will be OK. Doesn't sound good though. The only positive spin on it is its happened now and not October. We have time to look for a replacement, if needed. What is the Czech walls situation?
RandomGuy.
Youd be aswell risking the youth. Nothing to lose as you wont be finishing 12th regardless.

Lyness has done well when called upon but never looked like holding down a number 1 spot. In an ideal world you'd want two keepers pushing each other rather than one that knows they're guaranteed to be number 1. Maybe I'm being unfair and this is what happens. I'd like to think one of our two back ups is worth a shot though.

It's so early in the season to have competitive games. Some teams barely have a squad other are rotating teams. Is it earlier than usual this season due to Qatar?
