Martin_T
Why do the executives that sign off on these appointments, never get sacked?
Dons_1988
4 months is harsh but ultimately think maloney was destined to fail. Losing Boyle then investing in players for the future in January probably didn’t help him.
smc4761
Think wee Lenny is a shoe in for the job. Knows the club, experienced manager, knows the Scottish game
Gorgie greatness
A good few hobbits will be glad to see the back of him! The club will have some harsh criticism incoming, not given enough time etc. No managers first appointment should be at clubs this size. Least the next guy knows two maroon Bobbi-Ings & yer gone! Be funny if gray took them into the play off wi maroon Arbroath…..& lost
Jim McLean's Ghost
24 minutes ago, pozbaird said: Said it in the ‘Aberdeen next manager’ thread, I have genuinely no idea anymore what the managers of Aberdeen and Hibs have to do to avoid being bagged like Glass or Maloney. Finish third and win a cup every second season? The ‘Old Firm’ are out of sight, and there’s feck’ all between Aberdeen, Hearts, and Hibs, in regard to size and ability to finish third and win a cup every second season. There’s also the fact that the likes of Motherwell, Livvy, Dundee United are no mugs, and the likes of St Mirren (under Goodwin) looked decent. Add in the fact that no-one can build, and keep, a really good team these days as we’re all selling clubs, then the next Hibs manager better not just be good, he better be able to turn water into wine or perform all sorts of feckin’ miracles. It is a completely fair point but Hibs have also been completely shite since he came in. His style is incompatible with the facts on the ground in the Premiership. Possession and passing control are just not the way to score goals up here. Players not good enough and pitches a little too rough to be trying to play controlling football. And hibs and aberdeen have such a large section of fair weather fans. The attendances at Pittodrie and Easter Road probably fluctuate the most in number when the team is doing well or doing badly. So the pressure is always there to be doing better. Just look at the hampden attendance, I guarantee that if Hibs had won the derby at Tynecastle and were top 6 that whole end would have been sold out. Maybe Maloney got canned because season ticket renewals were meeting expectations. I also heard rumours that Maloney was not well liked by the players. And he had taken steps to avoid confrontations. Players could only meet him by appointment through his pa. I don't blame the Hibs board for canning him now because he hasn't shown anything in the time he has been given. Even if Boyle's departure and Nesbit's injury have been significant issues.

There’s plenty of reasonable scenarios that would’ve seen glass keep his job. Cormack would not have been in any hurry to sack him. We’re 21 points behind hearts. Half that and say we were 5th and glass would’ve been in a job.
Zing.
I know from the outside it may seem harsh but he had us playing terrible football and not winning games. Absolutely no signs of progress as he stubbornly stuck to his plan game after game. His remit when appointed was 4th. Then it became top six. Then it became get to the cup final. He failed at every turn.
Ulises de la Cruz
Good riddance. Maloney was quite clearly out of his depth. As mentioned, was always too stubborn to change his play style when he needed too, which resulted in us only winning once in the league this year. Quite clearly not good enough. He'll go back to his cushty number coaching the Belgian national side. As for us trying to get John Kennedy again: Spoiler
Insert Amusing Pseudonym
Based on his outstanding record at Celtic, you'd have to say Kennedy is the man for the job as assistant to Mark McGhee
Les Cabbage
Ah yes the man with the worst ever win percentage of anyone to manage Celtic, definitely the right decision to bin Maloney for that.

Ya Bezzer!
I realise Hibs had been absolutely shite this season and Maloney came across as a delusional nippy wee sweetie but sacking someone who probably shouldn't have been sacked and then sacking his replacement after 4 months is pure diddy club behaviour. Losing Boyle was a huge blow for Hibs and the board chose to take the money. It's no coincidence the bad run was parallel with Boyle leaving and he'll still probably finish the season as Hibs top league goal scorer. There is no one within 5 goals of him excluding Nisbet who's out for the season.

Sounds reasonable based on budgets etc, but................ @Div posted this on the P&B twitter a week or so back. The horrible truth is that Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibs are nowhere close to winning a trophy every couple of seasons. The shit trophy haul for managers at these clubs is the very reason they keep being booted down the road.
