HibeeJibee Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 You've all missed it really . Three seasons ago Montrose struck back late against Brora to preserve their SPFL status... two seasons ago Edinburgh City prevailed over East Stirlingshire... last season Cowdenbeath required a penalty shoot-out to see off East Kilbride. It's the drama, it's the tension, it's time - it's Trapdoorwatch #4 . This seasons the playoffs are Saturdays 21st & 28th April and 5th & 12th May. Edusport Academy were promoted to LL from SOSL, with Preston Athletic relegated to EOSL. August is out and how do things stand around the leagues? In SPFL2 it's Edinburgh City making heavy weather of things after 4 games with no points to their name. Next come Annan on 3pts.https://spfl.co.uk/league-two/table/ Highland League are 6 games in and no surprise to see Cove top with 5 wins/1 draw and Buckie 2pts behind alongside Nairn and, unbelievably, Rothes. Poor starts at Formartine and Brora see them 6pts off the pace, Brora having lost to Huntly and Inverurie then drawn with Fraserburgh today.http://highlandfootballleague.com/LeagueTable/ Lowland League are also 6 games in plus Dalbeattie v Stirling Uni in Matchday X but minus Selkirk v Dalbeattie cancelled as their floodlights weren't ready. East Kilbride and BSC Glasgow lead with 5 wins/1 draw each, then Spartans and University of Stirling 3pts back. Disappointing start by their standards has seen East Stirlingshire already fall 7pts behind after defeat to BSCG and draws with Dalbeattie, Gala and Civil Service Strollers.http://slfl.co.uk/lowland-league-table/
HibeeJibee Posted October 1, 2017 Author Posted October 1, 2017 Bump. Interesting times across these divisions.Cowdenbeath now find themselves in their familiar repose - propping up SPFL2. However they're only 1pt Edinburgh City who manager walked after yesterday's loss at Montrose. Slight gap to fellow strugglers Clyde. Business as usual from the end of last season here, Berwick having extricated themselves for the moment at least.https://spfl.co.uk/league-two/table/ In HL the pacesetters remain Cove. They are trailed by an impressive Fraserburgh, who sit 2pt back. After that there is a 4pt gap to Brora, then another 2pt to holders Buckie, Formartine and Inverurie.http://highlandfootballleague.com/LeagueTable/BSC Glasgow had established a 5pt lead atop LL but this has been trimmed slightly to 4pts, although they remain unbeaten. Spartans are now 2nd and have 1 game in hand. East Kilbride have stuttered slightly in recent weeks under the reign of Billy Stark - being held 1-1 at home to Stirling Uni, slumping to a 0-5 home defeat to East Stirlingshire then having to come from behind to rescue a 1-1 draw at 2nd bottom Edinburgh University yesterday. Despite that spectacular win at K-Park, the 'Shire still find themselves in the bottom half of the table, trailing by a whopping 14pts; but they've 2 games in hand after their visit to Hawick was waterlogged yesterday.http://slfl.co.uk/lowland-league-table/
HibeeJibee Posted October 28, 2017 Author Posted October 28, 2017 Bump. October is done - it's time to crack out the tables. In SPFL2 it looks increasingly like the same 3 clubs as last season battling to avoid relegation - Edinburgh City and Cowdenbeath can hardly buy a goal while Clyde can't keep them out. Annan and Berwick have drawn away: 6 Berwick P10 W5 D0 L5 15pts 7 Annan P10 W4 D1 L6 13pts 8 Clyde P10 W2 D2 L6 8pts 9 Edin City P10 W2 D0 L8 6pts --------------------------------------- 10 Cowdenb’h P10 W1 D2 L7 5pts HL sees Cove taking a grip on things sitting 3pts clear with 1 game in hand. They're pursued by Fraserburgh then Inverurie. Buckie have had a disastrous month - losing 3-0 at Inverurie, 7-1 at Cove (at Inverurie), then 3-2 at home to Deveronvale. Brora were also smashed 5-0 at home to Formartine: 1 Cove P15 W13 D2 L0 41pts --------------------------------------- 2 Fraserb’h P16 W12 D2 L2 38pts 3 Inverurie P17 W11 D2 L4 35pts 4 Brora P15 W11 D1 L3 34pts 5 Formart’e P16 W10 D1 L5 31pts 6 Buckie P15 W9 D1 L5 28pts LL looks very much like a 3-way race with BSCG, Spartans (with 1 game in hand) and EK only separated by 2pts. East Stirlingshire have only managed 15pts from their 11 games. BSCG had lost 4-2 at Civil SS early in the month: 1 BSCG P13 W10 D2 L1 32pts -------------------------------------------- 2 Spartans P12 W10 D1 D1 31pts 3 East Kilb P13 W9 D3 L1 30pts 4 Gretna P13 W7 D2 L4 23pts 5 Selkirk P11 W7 D0 L4 21pts, +18 6 Cumbern’d P13 W6 D3 L4 21pts, +3 7 Stir Univ P12 W6 D2 L4 20pts 8 East Stir P11 W4 D3 L4 15pts
HibeeJibee Posted October 31, 2017 Author Posted October 31, 2017 Corrected LL. Selkirk won earlier (still October):1 BSCG P13 W10 D2 L1 32pts---------------------------------------2 Spartans P12 W10 D1 D1 31pts3 East Kilb P13 W9 D3 L1 30pts4 Selkirk P12 W8 D0 L4 24pts

Jimmy Shaker Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 Cove will win the Highland League, almost certainly. The rest don't have the consistency, with Formartine losing heavily to Cove then beating Brora 5-0 at Dudgeon Park. Cove beat Buckie 7-1, only for Buckie to beat second place Fraserburgh 4-1 last month. Having racked up the goals months ago, Cove just need to grind out wins from here on in. And now they've got their ground on the way, they're maybe taking the play-offs seriously, unlike last time.
HibeeJibee Posted November 25, 2017 Author Posted November 25, 2017 Bump. November's come and gone. Little movement afoot SPFL2, but Cowdenbeath have reeled-in 1pt. Fraserburgh blew chance to lead HL today. EK join BSCG atop LL, but Spartans hunting. 6 Annan P14 W4 D5 L5 17pts, +2 7 Berwick P13 W5 D2 L6 17pts, -10 8 Clyde P13 W2 D5 L6 11pts 9 Edin City P13 W2 D2 L9 8pts -------------------------------------------- 10 Cowdenb’h P14 W1 D4 L9 7pts 1 Cove P16 W14 D2 L0 44pts, +61 -------------------------------------------- 2 Inverurie P20 W14 D2 L4 44pts, +34 3 Fraserb'h P18 W13 D2 L3 41pts 4 Brora P16 W12 D1 L3 37pts 5 Huntly P19 W11 D2 L6 35pts 6 Buckie P18 W10 D2 L6 32pts 1 BSCG P16 W11 D3 L2 36pts, +28 ------------------------------------------------- 2 East Kilb P15 W11 D2 L1 36pts, +22 3 Spartans P13 W10 D1 L2 31pts 4 Selkirk P15 W9 D0 L6 27pts 5 Gretna P16 W8 D2 L6 26pts, +6, F30 6 Cumbern’d P16 W7 D5 L4 26pts, +3, F29 7 East Stir P14 W7 D3 L4 24pts
Jacksgranda Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 That's quite an impressive goal difference Cove have from only 16 games.
HibeeJibee Posted November 25, 2017 Author Posted November 25, 2017 Gulf in class... spanked Buckie 7-1, Keith 6-2, Nairn 8-0 (away), Turriff 5-1, Fort William 8-0, Strathspey 8-0 (away), a pair of 4-0s, plus the other half of their program so far being regular level 1/2/3s. In comparison BSCG leading LL are +28 and that's despite them winning 9-0 at Hawick in September. HRA have had a clear-out and improved a lot since then, indeed only lost 3-2 v EK today.
HibeeJibee Posted December 30, 2017 Author Posted December 30, 2017 December runs out and with it 2017. Clyde, Edinburgh City and Cowdenbeath remain the relegation contenders in SPFL2. Advent has brought little festive cheer to these sides with City and Cowden adding a solitary 1pt to their totals - Clyde 2pts. Cove Rangers have further tightened their grip atop HL and now sit 6pts clear with 3 games-in-hand. Last season's champion Buckie have sunk away into mid-table while Brora sit 13pts back with just 1 game-in-hand. LL has seen the most interesting developments - with BSCG and East Kilbride dropping a lot of points, Spartans suffering several postponements and East Stirlingshire continuing a victorious streak to attach themselves to the coat-tails of the race. BSCG still lead but only 1pt ahead of EK, themselves only 1pt ahead of Spartans with 3 games-in-hand, while 'Shire sit further behind. 6 Elgin P17 W7 D3 L7 24pts 7 Berwick P16 W6 D3 L7 21pts 8 Clyde P15 W2 D7 L6 13pts 9 Edin City P17 W2 D3 L12 9pts ---------------------------------------- 10 Cowdenb’h P16 W1 D5 L10 8pts 1 Cove P19 W17 D2 L0 53pts -------------------------------------------- 2 Inverurie P22 W15 D2 L5 47pts 3 Fraserb'h P19 W14 D2 L3 44pts 4 Brora P18 W13 D1 L4 40pts, +39 5 Formart'e P20 W13 D1 L6 40pts, +34 6 Forres P20 W12 D3 L5 39pts 1 BSC Glasg P19 W13 D3 L3 42pts --------------------------------------- 2 East Kilb P19 W12 D5 L2 41pts 3 Spartans P16 W13 D1 L2 40pts 4 East Stir P18 W10 D4 L4 34pts 5 Cumbern'd P20 W8 D6 L6 30pts 6 Stir Univ P18 W9 D2 L7 29pts 7 Selkirk P17 W9 D0 L8 27pts
Back Beach Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 B’Jesus I’ve missed this forum, but I’m back and so are the mighty Brora. Cove certainties my arse. We’ve still to play them twice. Clyde beware we’re coming to get you, so leave the light on.
Burnsythebinman Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Surely the writing is on the wall for Cowdenbeath this season?
Ivo den Bieman Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Hard to see past Cowdenbeath for me I'm afraid.

HibeeJibee Posted January 27, 2018 Author Posted January 27, 2018 January bids us farewell - apart from Berwick v Peterhead and Stirling Albion v Cowdenbeath this midweek - but it's been a catastrophic month for Cowdenbeath whose 1pt deficit expanded to 9pts. They lost today whilst all 3 others won. It's far from impossible to overcome such a gap across 16 games but their remaining games against the pursued are all away plus a Clyde visit... It remains very hard to see past Cove in HL. They're 5pts clear of Fraserburgh with 2 games-in-hand, 8pts of Inverurie with 3, and 10pts of Formartine with 2. Blowup required. Still unbeaten they've 14 games to play. LL is still the big title race. EK lead but BSCG could close to within 1pt, Spartans go 6pts clear and 'Shire to within 4pts with games-in-hand. Between 8-12 games left. 7 Berwick P20 W7 D3 L10 24pts 8 Clyde P20 W4 D8 L8 20pts 9 Edin City P21 W5 D3 L13 18pts ---------------------------------------- 10 Cowdenb’h P20 W1 D6 L13 9pts 1 Cove P20 W18 D2 L0 56pts --------------------------------------- 2 Fraserb'h P22 W16 D3 L3 51pts 3 Inverurie P23 W15 D3 L5 48pts 4 Formart'e P22 W15 D1 L6 46pts 1 East Kilb P22 W15 D5 L2 50pts --------------------------------------- 2 BSC Glasg. HibeeJibee Posted February 15, 2018 Author Posted February 15, 2018 Bump. Interesting situation developing in HL where Cove will now have to play every Wednesday & Saturday from now until the end of the season to get finished - they have 13 league games and 2-5 cup ties to play, but 17 dates to play them! In comparison LL leader East Kilbride have 6 league games and 1-4 cup ties left.
