Was that Hampden's last hurrah?

Has anyone pointed out the obvious flaw in using Murrayfield yet, being, an old firm cup final and 60,000 bigoted fans attempting to travel through from Glasgow all at once?

Transport links would ensure its less of a problem than an all Edinburgh final at Hampden. It’s a joke that the national stadium is not in the nation’s capital.

I suspect the police would insist on them playing OF finals in Glasgow. Would either have to just do turn-about, or whoever gets drawn first plays at "home" (another thing for them all to be paranoid about!).

Regan sounds like he isn't keen on staying at Hampden.

The SFA chief executive says it would cost "many, many millions of pounds" to stay at Hampden, requiring external funding from public and private bodies.

So I guess it will come down to how much Rangers, Celtic and/or the SRU are going to charge them for rent.

Just send the scum down south and they can play in England where they’ll fail miserably, problem solved.

Surely Hampden could be used for cup finals and Murrayfield for Scotland internationals?

There's no reason for the Scotland team to be playing at Hampden anymore. It's a shite stadium with a terrible atmosphere that's either too big or too small depending on the fixture.

Bigger internationals at Murrayfield smaller at Easter Road/Tynecastle.

The only reason you think it's a joke is because you're (presumably) from the east coast. Glasgow is the biggest city and far more of a football city than Edinburgh, there's nothing laughable about it.

The east coasters championing Murrayfield because it would be easier for them to get to forget - or don't care - that it would just put the burden of travel onto those on the west coast. Solving one problem by creating another doesn't seem to be the best solution.

In an ideal world 3 sides of Hampden would be flattened the pitch moved 20 yards nearer the south stand and three new double tiered stands built. close to the pitch. allowing.  The  2 tiered stands allow you close any top tiers to suit smaller attendances at semi finals and friendlies.

I don't agree with moving internationals around the country as I think this dilutes home advantage.

But it's not an ideal world.

Can the sfa not just hite the grounds on an individual basis. For example you could still have an OF final at hampden it'  not as if it will disappear in a puff of smoke or an all edinburgh at murrayfield. Then just review the scotland games based on opponents.

See this wankfest over Murrayfield, has nobody noticed the huge gap between the goal lines and the stands behind the goals when the pitch is set out for football?

After all, one of the main reasons that we’ve got to leave Hampden is that you’re miles away from the pitch.

Someone has to pay for its upkeep (mainly repairs and rates). Queen's Park can't.

I don't know...the thought of 60,000 of them leaving Glasgow is quite nice.

There's only been one such final in history IIRC. A bit extreme to factor that into the rationale for leaving Hampden...

If that's a reason for leaving Hampden it's a small one.

Any move will be about saving / earning £££££££ for the SFA...

I’m talking about fans’ reasoning.

One of the most common gripes you hear is the view is shite from behind the goals because of the track.

I see Regan was interviewed, and the main theme running through the chat about Hampden was how much it was going to cost to make a change, and how they'd need to find sources of income.

Funnily enough, in a few months time they'll be asking us for money for the upcoming games.  Think we might see an inexplicable but totally unrelated rise...

Agree with you on that front, as mentioned before at the Hearts v Killie game my view was no better than behind the goals at Hampden.

Although in Murrayfield's defence it has a lot more seats with a decent view than Hampden does.

Going on about East Coasters for?

I’d much rather travel through to Glasgow than Edinburgh for, well anything, to be honest.

Edinburgh is a fucking nightmare to get about, roads are brutal, Glasgow has better trains that go all round the city and is in general just a much better location for big events.
