It’s a cathedral city.

It was Henry VIII of England who established the link between a cathedral and city status in his separate realm; the term 'cathedral city' has no absolutely meaning, legal standing or relevance in Scotland. Brechin has never been recognised by any authority as having city status.

Thanks for playing anyway.

How many times have relegated teams started winning though,? It seems to happen a lot, although maybe I'm just remembering wrongly.

The Morton clown-car side that got relegated in 2013-14 (26 points) picked up three of their six wins in the last seven games: two of which were just before relegation was officially confirmed (but absolutely nailed on) at the start of April, before hilariously swording a title-chasing Dundee, much to the continued, daily seethe of their gormless fanbase.  That team was significantly stronger in terms of personnel after panic signings in the January window though, so it was more of an overdue improvement than anything else.

Playing what?

I couldn’t care less, just saying why they’re called Brechin City

Prepare for Brechin wins soon enough.

virginton in being an absolute obnoxious cant shocker.

Brechin relegated the Rovers last season so for that utterly hilarious moment & their brilliant football ground I will be forever grateful.

All other teams to have a post-relegation bounce had actually won a few games during the first part of the campaign; playing and failing to win every single week will be an absolute shanner for everyone in their squad. I'm not convinced that their morale will hold up.

Erm no, you were actually contesting the factually correct point that Brechin itself isn't, wasn't and never will be a city. If you can't even keep track of your own gormless contributions then it's no surprise to see you making an absolute c**t of it, as usual.

Better luck next time.

Did Cowden really overspend? I don't ever seem to recall them hugely spending outwith their means whilst they were up here. If anything a succession of utter shan appointments in Nicholl, Nish (a truly baffling appointment) and Fox led to their downfall. Nish in particular was an absolute shocker.

I dont particularly recall any suggestion of Cowden overspending either but they arent a great comparison anyway. Whilst they did manage three seasons at this level they had significant fortune in timing.

The first season saw Dunfermline go bust with a big points deduction and Airdrie also enter car crash mode which kept them up whilst we had entered car crash mode a year earlier and were having a sojourn in Division 2.

The second season Morton had a Kenny Shiels car crash of a season. There were also two other part time sides in Alloa and Dumbarton albeit Cowden eventually finished bottom of the rest because our reserves scored a 96th min equaliser against them. But they stayed up via the playoffs as Dunfermline shot themselves in the foot again.

The 3rd season they were relegated despite going into the last game in 8th and having Livi in car crash point deduction mode and Alloa still in the League. They were 1 pt off getting a 4th season.

Brechin to be fair have had none of that (apart from Raith / Ayr having got themselves a division below).  A weaker squad to begin with. 8 full time sides, none of whom are in proper car crash mode (though Falkirk tried to make it look like they were for half a season) and a streetwise Dumbarton group with a lot of experience at this level. It was always likely to be a thankless task for them. They were weaker than Cowden when promoted. I do think they are slightly unlucky not to have nicked a few more points than they have. They certainly could have had something from us in our 1-0 win at Glebe Park. Every chance if we arent playing for anything last game of the season they might get something that day.

When you stand for election, you pay a fee. You get that back if you achieve minimum standard number of votes.

Time to move to withhold 'prize' money or issue a fine for such an embarrassing contribution to the league.

It's not quite as amusing as failing to win any of 23 league games at this level and being de facto relegated at the start of February though. Indeed literally none of the clubs you whine about - even when fielding absolute ringers while in administration - have racked up such a shameful record of failure at this or any other level of the game.
Finances are a straw man argument anyway. If Brechin didn't have an absolutely clueless manager that they have bizarrely kept on, then they'd probably be in the low double figures for points by now; they're hardly competing in 1990s Serie A.

The season Cowden were relegated though had Rangers, Hearts and Hibs in the Division rather stronger than this season's opposition. Cowden didn't have any more advantage in timing than any other side - it's stretching a point to try and suggest they had some good fortune e.g. Dunfermline overspending had disadvantaged Cowden unfairly for years given it attracted some fans to watch success at EEP rather than watch or begin to follow Cowden. In 2012/13 they won points against every team in the League except Partick (albeit 2-1 ahead v Jags and dominating match at home that was controversially abandoned in fog). In 2013/14 Cowden beat every team in the League apart from QOS.

Why on earth would we be seething when our 2013/14 is summed up with this:
