Ayrutd1910
Wonder if we could tempt Jack Ross to leave Newcastle
placidcasual
Last four appointments have all been absolute failures. We've tried the merry-go-round dinosaurs, we've tried the pro at the end of his playing career and we've tried the left field appointment. No faith at all in Smith getting this one right.

I'm pretty sure he said he was quite glad to be away from management, I also imagine he'll be on more money there that Ayr could offer. He'll also see himself as too big to drop down to a team scrapping at the wrong end of the Championship.
diegomarahenry
9am passed and 10 am passed and no announcement. The press have announced it 12 hours ago. The clubs media performing at its usual pace and keeping folk in the dark until it reaches the point of taking the piss. Unless They are currently booting the VORs balls about the car park for printing early.

I really don’t believe he would report it without the nod from the club. But then that kind of raises the question of why the club would not just communicate things formally rather than going through the local paper. Can only think maybe the club are actively securing his replacement and want to wait until that’s a done deal.

They have all had the same door disposition. Hopkin probably the cheerful one of the lot. We want the 'taskmaster' style manager it seems to me.

Nelson
The club statement confirms Mathie and Smith hate the fans for forcing them into this position. No replacement identified clearly. The striking part of the statement is the reference to Bullen being a great ambassador for the club. That is undeniably true, but also highlights the problem that he was never much more than that.
diegomarahenry
The old tin tack sustained run of poor results must have been in his contract. Right in the middle of the window with no players in the door. They really need to get this appointment done quickly and make the right choice.
AyrTroopMajor
Correct decision, imo 2 games too late, he should have went after Morton. Good luck to Lee Bullen.
eez-eh
No mention of who’s taking it interim. Could mean the next manager is imminent. Or it could just be the usual telling us nothing.
Iain
BBC report confirms that Bullen is indeed 52: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67978354

They can't let the transfer window go by with no input from the guy who they're asking to keep the team in the division.
