Pocketman
BBC Radio Scotland's David Porter assessment this morning was that Johnson's performance in the Commons and afterwards in a private Tory meeting last night has won support back from his party and although he not yet "out of the woods" his position is stronger. There are a few "bumps to be negotiated a little further down the road" but blah blah blah.

Detournement
As much as clean shirt Twitter wants to spin this as an outrage if Grenfell, cash for honours, Iraq, Libya, the Manchester bombing, Windrush, prorouging Parliament and 101 other scandals weren't resigning matters neither is this.
NotThePars
Quite amused at the hacks suddenly deciding smears are bad when it’s aimed at Keir Starmer. They’re all still pals with Tom Newton-Dunn who published far right propaganda on the front pages during the 2019 election and never apologised.

I counted about half a dozen in the commons saying he had to go. They've all shat it? Really? Kuensberg shockingly toeing this line on the wireless too. The BBC has zero credibility for reporting uk politics and should be ignored. Al Jazeera reported Johnson as a serial liar and a hypocrite who was engaging in diversionary tactics. Laura K spent the morning dispensing the secret knowledge that "the polls are important to MPs" while gossiping about potential challengers' support. This island reeks.
btb
Unless Tory MPs get bombarded with emails calling for him to go over the next 24 hours then Johnson'll likely stay. PMQs tomorrow will be interesting, Blackford should be back (IIRC the suspension is normally just for the day), will he call him a liar again? It would be better if half a dozen or so different MPs called the PM a liar to his face every time he was in the chamber. I thought Johnson's performance yesterday was dire.

Well yeah, the convention that a minister wouldn't lie to the House would resign when it was obvious they had lied is now a thing of the past so why should the other half remain? The question is would what you're suggesting be effective or should the SNP group as a whole leave if Blackford repeats his accusation and is thrown out again altho that would have been more impressive if they had done so yesterday spontaneously.

Every time an opposition MP stands to ask a question, make sure they call the PM a liar as part of the question.Getting thrown out one at a time would make more impact.

Not so sure about a mass walk out. I think a 'drip, drip" approach would have a longer lasting effect. As you say, having a disciplinary system based on the' principle that all members are, by definition, "honourable" is absurd. Still, so many folk have suggested outside the protection of Parliament that he has lied that if he sues them he will be even wealthier than he wants to be. In terms of Independence it is of course better that Boris stays and inevitably moves from this disaster to the next 347 disasters. It would also put the Tories in Holyrood in disary as they have all called for his head. Who would replace DRoss as leader....no way could he continue for a few more months under Boris.
