williemillersmoustache
Very strong and rather enjoyable "THAT'S NOT MY BORIS/UNION/BUNCH OF DESPICABLE TORY c***s" energy from the solvent abusing racist this evening.

The Tories successfully shuffled the cards, hope they don't manage it again. Somehow i don't think they can pull this off, not with the current gallery of grotesques. Hundreds of fines.

I'm going to take this moment as a moment of amnesty and as an opportunity and reach out an olive branch for all the moderate SNP voters and offer them the chance now before the tide fully turns to welcome Sir Keir as our new dear leader and to get on board. Get yourself thoroughly and roughly fucked. Thanks.

No personal choice. And, having relinquished my party membership, I have no say if there is (hopefully) a leadership election.

I'm probably not a moderate SNP voter in the sense you mean, as I consider myself a Green/actual Socialist by inclination and vote SNP for one reason only, that of course being to secure independence for the only part of the UK (RIP) that can be saved. I do however find Labour south of the border considerably less objectionable than their North British brethren, and have nothing much against Starmer other than him being a Blair-lite Toom Tabard. So I'm happy enough for Englandshire to vote Labour to it's heart's content, even as I remain unconvinced about their prospects of ever being re-elected. Which is of course the whole point of tonight's hugely entertaining shenanigans.

Jim McLean's Ghost
If Boris wins I think he puts two fingers up to the rest of the party. He is free and clear for a year. And what are the rebels going to do? Collapse the govt to call an election where they get spanked? Boris will have them all de-selected too like he did with his Remoaners.

The “safe for a year” rule doesn’t actually exist, but even if it did the 1922 Committee Executive can easily change it if they felt there was the will for another no-confidence vote.

If they don't have the votes now, when will they have the votes to topple him? And if they have to bend the rules to do it I don't think the Tory rebels have the stomach for it. Big Dog will continue to piss all over the rug.

There’s two by-elections coming up where the Tories are expected to be utterly trounced. That might be enough to scare loyalists in more marginal seats.

GiGi
Fat clown supporters still talking about Johnson's 'levelling up agenda' in the red wall. Genuine question, what's he done to level them up?

Did you not get that horrible feeling in the last few weeks that there was no way the soft Tory voters were going to accept Neil Kinnock as Prime Minister? That was a woman who really needed an election defeat, but I dare say she'd have rationalised it away somehow. I think she would have been slaughtered in 92 even with Kinnock, whom I wasn't a fan of but might have been a better leader for the country than Blair, but probably wouldn't have lasted as long. I doubt if he'd been as gung ho about Iraq for example, and might have done more for the abandoned mining towns that have turned Tory from sheer neglect.
