I'm liking the Australians offering flights back to Australian soil, only to eventually tell them it's to a little island located a couple of thousand miles out into the Indian Ocean.

I hear St Kilda is nice this time of year...

They also want to charge them upto $1,000 for the pleasure.

Getting a little bit tired of British immigrants bitching and moaning about the UK/Chinese government not letting them come back to the UK.  Not a chance we should be organising any route back at this point.

You're alert, that's for sure.

Its great to see a regional sport finally getting the recognition it deserves. When the infection rate in the group stages has already surpassed that of the whole SARs tournament of 2003 (although death rate is a mere 2.2%, making it more of a Global sniffles outbreak) The global governing body make it a global event.

The death toll reaches 213, although some people are now claiming the virus to be racist as it only appears to kill Mainland Chinese.

Infections now above 9320 and with the global recognition, Italy now get their first points (2) on the board, Germany add to their tally.

The UK, who has already decided to not be part of the world and plan their departure tonight have yet to field a team. They have been holding many trials in a desperate attempt to be taken serious but to no avail. There recent attempt to bring in ringers has failed when they have realised that no one particularly cares.

The US have been investing in training and have managed to develop a local person to person transmission, this could help them build up the numbers.

Australia are adding their own slant on the tournament by making their ringers participate in a massive ‘Love Island’ event for two weeks.

Of course, everyone awaits to see what the ‘entertainment’ team do today and our roving reporter Slippery P will be along soon to update from the Land of chuckles. They have captured the hearts of so many in this tournament with their Roger Milla esque performance. Got to love those crazy Thais!

The financial impact continues as airlines start to cancel routes due to dropping demand.

In utter astonishment, tourism to China has dive bombed and tour operators are claiming a huge number of cancellations - Quelle Surprise.

Early days yet and the finishing has been pretty lamentable in the preliminary rounds, but we'll have to wait to see if it picks up in the weeks ahead against the legends.

Exactly, fūck them, happy to take the money, let them take their chances with the virus.

What a difference a few hours make!

Japan now challenging the Land of Chuckles for second place, but no one can predict the unpredictable Thais. Lets see what they come up with! Or is the tactic of having convicts put tiny little face-masks on bats actually working?

Germany are starting to get their act together to challenge France in the European arena.

Vietnam finally find their stride and with some aplomb drag themselves to mid table, early report card says, can do better.

UAE put in a strong performance from the middle east and we have Cambodia and Finland breaking their ducks along with Philippines and India who are potential heavy hitters here. HK Blues, cover your mouth when you cough, you won’t be told again!

10k should be comfortably broken today.
Unbelievable Jeff!

Very slow news day here in Thailand. Not surprising after the 2 arrest for posting online.

However we do have some.  Chief tactician PM  General Prayut Chan-o-cha does NOT have the virus. Rumours were circulating that he had caught the virus after visiting Suvarnabhumi Airport BKK on Wednesday.  The Government had to release a statement, really?

Why?

Surely as long as they are properly quarantined and not just left to roam among the general population, then the government should be doing what it reasonably can to remove British nationals from an area where they might get sick?

What harm does it do you?

Why should the UK government take the risk. These people made their choice.

So you think that people who move abroad should have their citizenship rights revoked?

Why?

In some respects, yes.  I certainly don’t think we should be going out of our way to take the risks associated with organising bringing them back en masse.

What about those who are abroad working in Britain's interest in embassies or trade delegations, or working for British companies abroad, or in soft-power jobs etc?

Where do you draw the line with this? If you and your family go to Spain on holiday and there's an ebola outbreak, do you think the government should leave you there to die or bring you home in a controlled way to get you out of harm's way and keep you quarantined?

The risks of doing this are minimal and the benefits are potentially great.

What exactly are you afraid of?

The people interviewed who attracted my ire fitted none of those categories.

The risks are obvious. Not sure of these great benefits though.

So what?

They're British citizens. Other countries are taking the same action.

I just find it quite a bizarre attitude to have a hell-mend-em approach to anyone who happens to find themselves abroad and in difficulty.

Again, what exactly are you afraid of? The government aren't going to do anything dangerous with these people. They're going to remove them from a dangerous place and put them in quarantine.

How could anybody object to that?

What are the risks? They'll be getting off a plane and quarantined at a military base immediately until they either die or get better.

Wanting citizenship revoked because they've got the flu
