Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Recommended Posts

115 UK cases, 25 in London. Some transmissions seem to be local rather than people who have been in countries with a high infection rate.  Government now officially moving to phase 2 "delay" rather than trying to contain it.

I was in Tesco in Inverness today. Panic buying has hit the flour and pasta shelves bigly. Canned goods also scarce. Didn't check out the toilet roll section. Tip, for when the TP runs out: fix a length of hose to your bathroom tap.

Was just in the Tesco Metro over the river and a disappointing lack of brawling over the plentiful bog roll and soap. Seemed to be more stocking up than usual though. Felt sheepish at the till with my 2 jumbo packs of bog roll, 8 bars of soap and a couple of liquid soap dispensers. Couldn't see any portable oxygen concentrators for sale, they'll be the next big thing imo, bit pricey though.

Considering getting my camping gear first before the great urban exodus to the hills empties Cotwalds, Black's, Craigdon etc.

Only a matter of time before people are defending bits of woodland, armed with the rusty 5 Iron and a can of WD40 they grabbed from their garage.

There have only been a handful of cases here in Canada, however panic in the stores has definitely reached her.  Mrs Soupe went to Walmart Tuesday and it was a madhouse (more than normal), and medical supplies, canned goods, toilet paper, etc... was pretty much all gone

My missus said a woman in the queue in Aldi today had a 24 pack of bog roll under each arm and one in each hand and was telling everyone within earshot that she wasn't stocking up or hoarding but that she just goes through a lot of toilet paper and was getting some for her daughter as well.

Stocking up and hoarding IMO.

‘Underlying health condition‘ is very vague. Surely people with these underlying health conditions would like a bit of notice of which particular underlying health condition means you are doomed, so we can start shiteing ourselves and being ultra cautious.

Would be easier to use a trolley.
