Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Recommended Posts

I'm coming round now to speeding up the relaxation of measures. It certainly looks like we are about at the point where we are unlikely to be able to suppress the virus much further, given the levels on our doorstep south of the border.

The quarantine rules relating to incoming flights were always nonsensical and meant that suppression was going to take a lot longer than it otherwise should have. As strict as possible for as short as possible should have been the approach.

That’s what they say, but by that token hairdressers and barbers sound more at risk of catching/spreading it and they’re expected to be back mid July/early Aug
Any more than 15 minutes for a haircut is bourgeois pish and should be stopped anyway

British exceptionalism showing itself off to the world again.

Quote

A government minister has said the NHS coronavirus contact-tracing app is "not a priority" and he was not sure it would be out by winter.

The app, which has been trialled on the Isle of Wight, was initially expected to launch nationally weeks ago.

Lord Bethell, the Minister for Innovation at the Department of Health and Social Care, said he was unable to give a date for its launch.

But he insisted that the trial "has gone very well indeed".

He was responding to questions at the Science and Technology Committee on Wednesday afternoon.

"We are seeking to get something going for the winter, but it isn't the priority for us at the moment," Lord Bethell said in answer to a question about the app.

He admitted that was "an expectation of management answer, saying I can't give you a date".

Lord Bethell said it was still the government's intention to launch it at some point.

Carers, hospital staff etc who are infected but don't have symptoms may be passing it on.
Sturgeon is at it in respect of her comments about putting kids at risk, playing on the heart strings to hide their complete ineptness in dealing with this mess.   They're putting kids at risk by stopping their education, stopping grassroots sports, stopping them socialising.
Just look at the u turn after Swinney comments.
And before I'm accused of being a Tory for slating the SG handling of this I have voted SNP for twenty years, however that does not make them exempt to criticism over their handling of this whole debacle.

I agree, kids (and everyone) have abandoned the lockdown principles, groups of 20/30 kids in parks, or playing football etc or in house parties etc. If thats acceptable and we’re relaxing everything else then put kids back in fucking school.

I imagine the SG do not want to acknowledge and factor this in as it might legitimise the idea that it's fine to just ignore the restrictions when it suits you.

But there is a middle ground between privately acknowledging this and publicly pretending it isn't happening.

I live in a small town and just about everyone of my neighbours kids are breaking the lockdown rules, playing with friends all day every day and work in the southside of Glasgow where its the very same. Everyone’s given up on lockdown, its absolutely apparent.
Studies today showing that kids arent the ‘super spreaders’ and that its something like only 30% of cases in households where they are the introductory factor.
I was in favour of shutting down everything early and effectively like New Zealand did, but we absolutely fucked it and did a pretendy lockdown far too late, we’re now not achieving anything as after the protests etc no one is actually sticking to the principles so just scrap it and get safe achievable conditions put in place or actually enforce it. I took a lot of flak from posters for criticising the SNP’s response and whilst its better than the Tories it’s been shite overall.

There's also a logic to trying to keep some kind of lid on the inevitable flouting of social distancing rules after 3 months and in midsummer.

Tell that to the women that are in there for about 3 hours getting a cut and colour! Fck knows how that is going to work.

My ex was one of these. I ended up getting a haircut in the same place at the same time she had an appointment. I realised that only about 20 minutes of the 180 they spend in there is actually the cutting and colouring part. The rest is sitting in the chair drinking prosecco/coffee, reading a shite magazine, while the stylist pisses around elsewhere in the shop doing f**k knows what. Then there's the obligatory 'get your hair washed by the junior and get asked if you're going anywhere nice this year' 30 mins or so. I told them I'd literally just stepped out of the shower having washed my hair not more that 30 mins before I arrived in the shop, but no, you have to get subjected to that pish regardless.

Daftest part is, she'd come out of the place looking absolutely no different to she went in, except for being about £150 worse off. Total con job.

Yeah so was my most recent ex. In there for 3 hours. About half an hour getting the dye applied, then reading a magazine waiting for it to “develop”, then the hair wash and head massage, followed by cut, blow dry and then straighten. I used to drop her off for her appt then go to the football and be back to collect her and I still had to wait! Christ knows if those days at salons will return

Place mine used to go to had a boozer right downstairs. Lost count the number of times I went in there to wait stone cold sober, came oot reeking, and she was still no finished. Place was always rammed full of blokes on their own looking at their watches every 20 mins and rolling their eyes.

I reckon the salon and and the bar had a racket going.
