Coronavirus (COVID-19)

I've got an elderly uncle who lives in one of the Ayrshire mining towns; all of the banks have gradually closed branches, citing that locals would be able to use the Post Office for basic transactions on their existing accounts. Only they're now closing the Post Offices too.

Civilisation gradually being rolled up in Ayrshire before they finished rolling it out, it seems.

There used to be an RBS here, then when it shut they brought down the van 2 days a week. Since covid happened it’s never came to town. Ridiculous for older people who don’t use mobile banking to have to travel 25 miles to get to a branch. South Ayrshire has been civilaised  for years, East Ayrshire not so much

Not really sure what happens next, 6 monthly hormone blocking injections and regular blood tests anyway. I guess it will depend on the PSA count.

I'm getting hormone implants and blood tests atm, think radiotherapy is the next step.

NRS numbers are out, total deaths dropped by 19 from 89 to 70.  Definitely shallowed out a bit into the tail. Looks like being week 30 before total deaths is 10/ week

That's all very well, however it is worth bearing in mind that for all causes except respiratory, more people are dying at home or in care homes than are not dying in hospital.

It's clear that as well as "saving lives" the lockdown also costs lives.

I'm not convinced getting to 10 ahead of anything else should be the be all and end all

Of  course it would be helpful if we knew if the deaths were purely down to Covid or if they were a contributing factor.

For example did 89 years old Agnes with IHD, Copd and diabetes  and has been on the brink for a while also have Covid added to her death certificate or did 47 year old James die purely as a result of Covid.

As harsh as it sounds its information like that that's required so as people make informed choices about risk etc.

Statistics can we interpreted however they want but if we're adding Covid to a lot of death certificates for those who have lots of co comorbidities and are ill then that number will still be there come August, September etc..

77% of all covid deaths in Scotland were in people aged 75 or over, and 92% had at least 1 underlying health condition.

The argument that "what if you don't know you have a condition?" is often used as a note of caution but, being crude, 92% of 70 is 64.

That means less than 1 person per day who died with or from Covid-19 in Scotland last week did not or did not know they had an underlying condition.

You can't die in two places at the same time.

I don't think it should either, just using it to note a shallowing in the trend.

Just out a work meeting and Face coverings will be made compulsory in an SG announcement within the next 24hrs. Will apply on Public Transport including school transport, taxis private hire. Will NOT be in conjunction with any SD reduction, it will remain at 2m

I've been told that people who were perceived to be holiday home owners were verbally abused in some parts of the Highlands and there were some incidents of vandalism.  This was  around the time of the start of the lockdown when there was quite a bit of press about holiday home owners.

Guess that gets wrapped up with whatever the phase 2 announcement is tomorrow.

Not sticking up for WM or Bojo here but I’d imagine the papers are only running with this as Brazil will overtake us in the coming days/weeks. Still not surprising though.

Mental figure for Sweden who id imagine probably has a relatively healthy population. Can only imagine where the UK would be if they continued the Swedish herd immunity approach instead of implementing our farcical ‘lockdown’

Without meaning to be overly simplistic about it, how in the f**k are the people vulnerable enough to be still dying of this actually catching it.

Also, why is Nicola Sturgeon fear mongering with talk of "putting our children's lives at risk"? I am a parent and I personally would put my kids back into school tonorrow.

Carers, hospital staff etc who are infected but don't have symptoms may be passing it on.

Sturgeon is at it in respect of her comments about putting kids at risk, playing on the heart strings to hide their complete ineptness in dealing with this mess.   They're putting kids at risk by stopping their education, stopping grassroots sports, stopping them socialising.

Just look at the u turn after Swinney comments.

And before I'm accused of being a Tory for slating the SG handling of this I have voted SNP for twenty years, however that does not make them exempt to criticism over their handling of this whole debacle.
