Billy Jean King
I can only assume infections must have soared in the back of it, as SG have confirmed no pilot events this weekend. That was announced before the events (put back to 5 October as part of last week's new measures). Not as a result of the weekend events.

Pittodrie holds nearly 22k btw. Remember they were just testing the ability for a few hundred people to follow instruction - it had been just over 2 weeks than the last time they tested that.

The English test events had their capacities slashed last week too. Doncaster had planned 5000 before it was pulled after a day now Newmarket told 1000 max and Warwick negotiating to get 800. Those are big wide open racecourses never mind football grounds.

Those are big wide open racecourses never mind football grounds. Someone said last week, it might even have been you, that we need to focus on getting our health service back fully open first, and I agree with that. At the same time, however, with just 48 Covid patients in our hospitals we really need to be getting a move on with that. I also said a few times now that really we need to see a bit of a rise in cases over a period of weeks, coupled with no real rise in hospital admissions and deaths, to calm people down. It's clear that we are going to have to wait a few more weeks till the "wait 2 weeks" crowd can be calmed, but I hope that when we do move forward with re-introducing spectators, we do so at meaningful levels rather than the frankly embarassing "test" numbers. Crowds at sporting events were seen as a low risk activity which had little impact on the spread back in March, yet they are now acting like they are high risk superspreader environments.

Jason Leitch on Off The Ball at the weekend mooted the prospect of each team doing a pilot event as every stadium is different. He seemed to suggest that these could take place over the next few weeks
Steven W
East Stirlingshire are playing Falkirk tonight at the Falkirk stadium. Game behind closed doors with no one allowed to attend. Meanwhile, at the same time, a fun fair is going full pelt in the car park.....

Really no reason they couldn’t have had 500 minimum dotted around there 4 minutes ago, Steven W said: East Stirlingshire are playing Falkirk tonight at the Falkirk stadium. tamthebam
I heard on the R4 evening news someone from down south say that they had applied for a test "and got offered an appointment in Aberdeen". I take it no-one in Aberdeen has a) had to wait for a test or b) been offered one in, say, Plymouth then? I just wondered if there was a bug in the test allocation system which given the depressing history of government IT projects wouldn't surprise me
