Billy Jean King
Schools going back isn't themselves an issue. It's the constant references to them being safe that irks people. Along with the likes of Sridhar wanting them open at the same time as pushing #ZeroCovid nonsense. If the SG came out and said that they knew schools being open had a negative impact on the R rate, but it was a risk they feel is acceptable then it wouldn't be an issue. They never will, though. I'm not sure there is anyone out there who doesn't realise that relaxation of any measure is likely to see a rise in R and hence the reason why the whole process needs to be phased and stage managed. I have yet to here Swinney, Leitch or any other stake holder even once say schools opening wouldn't lead to an R rate rise, it was why they were closed in first place.

George Parr
Anticipating a bit of nuance to the schools announcement - i.e. nurseries and primaries potentially back but older kids remaining confined to barracks. Would be in line with the stuff that Sridhar has entirely coincidentally been pumping out over the last week.

Nicola Sturgeon stood up at one of the briefings and specifically said it was a balance of risks. Swinney has also said the same. Swinney has categorically stated numerous times that schools are safe. Hence much of the rage towards him. 24 minutes ago, ayrmad said: Halls plural not singular in a poorly located one. You can bet your mortgage that were the roles reversed, it would be getting sung from the rooftops and infinite amounts of smoke blown up certain arses. I can't work out if you're someone who is incredibly frustrated by the virus and truly hates the measures that the SG are taking, or someone who is delighted that the virus is there because you see it as a golden chance for the SG to fail. Probably a bit of both. You've definitely got more excited in the last few days when the vaccination statistics look bad for the SG.

It’s literally a five minute walk from a bus stop at the bottom of the town with a massive car park. The most vulnerable have been vaccinated at local surgeries, to ramp things up larger venues are needed. There is plenty of things to criticise but this isn’t one of them. This is utter nonsense. It’s right next to the town centre, and is in an ideal location. It is Ayr, not a large city - every person attending will be very close to it.

Their Govt must be confident it's under control as they've been so strict with the likes of the alcohol ban to reduce strain on hospitals.
