Blair’s Foundation published the first major paper arguing for spacing out vaccine delivery and focussing on delivering first vaccine doses to as many people as possible.

yes mr blair may have killed thousands of iraqis, but he also wrote a good article once so it’s impossible to say if he’s bad or not

It's going to be fucking annoying seeing Tory and SNP leaders circle wanking about bringing down infections when the same phenomena is happening in countries without restrictions or vaccines.

They might as well proclaim they are putting the leaves back on the trees.

Are you claiming covids just going away of its own accord

1500000 Iraqis died in the civil unrest which directly sprang from the war and the mismanagement of its aftermath

It's seasonal.

You can see it's going down in places with very few restrictions such as Florida and Sweden. Cases are dropping in Madrid despite schools and universities being open all through winter and bars being allowed to use inside spaces.

It started here in March/April and is ending in Feb this year.

It peaked in Belgium in October

South Africa has just had a wave in the middle of summer

It clearly ended here last summer. There were almost no cases in July.

This is the end of the second wave.

I agree there's a seasonal aspect to it but it's far more complicated than that. Too many places where it peaked in spring, autumn or even summer.

Defo true about Spain. They've far fewer restrictions than us and cases are dropping like a stone. I'm coming to believe there's little point comparing restrictions across countries as there seems to be far more factors at play than the standard lockdown stuff

Elderly friend of the family in Moray at a complete loss as to how she, her daughter and her two sons have managed to catch Covid, with nobody else they know showing any symptoms.  Must have all caught it at the shop as they have kept to social distancing, supposedly.   I for one am somewhat skeptical of these claims.

I always thought the same until...
My kid was sat beside me at the table the other day and said, absolutely out of nowhere having never mentioned anything like it before or having ever - as far as I’m aware - having heard anything like it from me or my wife, that he’d like to buy a pottery wheel and some clay and make something.
Wife picked up her phone five minutes later - guess what she got ads for on Facebook?  Creepy as f**k.

Had he been watching ghostbusters ?

I think first waves will be unusual everywhere because of the lack of immunity in the population but the second waves in Europe and the US are acting as you would expect a seasonal virus to.

Or lockdowns just don't really work.

If they weren't so devastating, it would be utterly hilarious to see Governments repeatedly using them to "control" the virus, without ever seemingly asking themselves just how effective they really are.

They weren't, remember, part of any previous pandemic strategy, and are only being done because China did it.

I'm not trying to play the martyr, but it really is impacting my life, and best guess is another couple of months like this. I get the feeling the Main Players on here have either avoided the lurgy, or have been fortunate enough, being young and fit, to have had a mild dose. I'm fifty seven, with a few recent health issues. You'll forgive me if I don't fall into the "it's just like flu" camp.
Anyhow, I should be getting those high grade drugs into my arm next week - unexpected upside of my stroke a couple of years ago!emoji106.png

I can't understand why you haven't got it before now - I know you posted about you asking your doctor and him saying your conditions didn't justify it (you would have thought because you had more than one condition that would justify it) - but at least it looks like you are now being sorted.

I know I'm a wee bit older than you are but I wouldn't have thought my conditions would have got me my jag before you got yours. Maybe the age of the person is more relevant?

this is quite a good video of what to expect, probably would have been more use earlier but still.

Total waste of money producing that, imo. It's only an injection, wearing masks and social distancing has been recommended/in force for months, what were people expecting - to be herded together like a cattle market and some flunkey lassoing the patients and dragging them out to be jagged?

Florida with 21 million people recorded 6000 cases yesterday with zero restrictions
Meanwhile the ukinlockdown got 12k with over 3 times the population
So yeah they are higher than us per head but not 4 times higher or any of that nonsense
