Nicola Sturgeon has said she wants “if at all possible” the current lockdown to be the last Scotland has to go through, as she confirmed her officials are still working towards eliminating coronavirus.

‘The objective hasn’t changed’

During the briefing on Thursday, Ms Sturgeon said she has “always been part of the school of thought that says we should be seeking to eliminate” the virus

I have no issue with us going a bit slower than England, FWIW. All I want is a) a bit more optimism from NS, she basically begged people not to be positive about things last week just because schools were going and b) a clear pathway to exit all this, not just a never ending tiered system.

Whatever happens today, it is imperative that the shagging ban is removed as soon as possible.

It is unthinkable that a nation of top shaggers like the Scots are prevented from doing what we do best.

Actually G, it’s called “heeftin”. Only top shaggers know it. And if you canni haunul it, ye better beat it.

Tbf difficult to guage "slower then England" because they haven't set a "this will be over by date"

More cautious then, however you want to phrase it. I just mean, Within reason, I really won’t be comparing us to England too much, some clarity and optimism is mainly what I’m after.

I admit that I'll be a bit disappointed if we don't get any insane pledges from some of the more excitable types on here.

Don't burst their bubble, just let them wallow in Boris' cocoon of super optimism.

It's not like it's ever came back to bite him before.

I don't remember her expressly saying it and if it's the parliament that published that then I think @Billy Jean King is probably right I had a look there and there are some opinion pieces saying it's what we are doing but it has as far as I can see never been a policy announcement.

Hospital numbers down again. 1076 down from 1141 yesterday.

ICU numbers 93, down from 99 yesterday.

Long stay ICU patients unchanged at 32.

Some good underlying numbers amongst it. Notably, number of people admitted to ICU down from 95 in the seven days til yesterday, to 78 in the seven days to today. That's a number to keep an eye on - it should drop quickly.
